House, Miller and associates were identified through Operation Famed, a police investigation into the supply of illicit drugs in Bendigo and the northern suburbs of Melbourne between December, , and May, Prosecutor Tom Lynch said Miller would buy drugs for his own use, but also sell them to others. The court heard the deals were arranged through mobile phone conversations, using coded language to disguise the names of drugs and dealers. Investigators believed both conversations referred to the supply of different kinds of ecstasy tablets. The court heard Miller would often lend his car to House for trips to Melbourne to buy drugs. As a result of the business closure, Miller, a father of two, moved into the nightclub industry, first in security, and then as manager at the Sundance Saloon. The court was told House befriended Miller, and the defendant bought drugs for his own use and began to sell them. Almost essential. Today's top stories curated by our news team. Love footy? Defence lawyer Kate Youngson told the Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday that Christopher Frake, 37, bought the drugs for his personal use because they helped him stay alert during his long working hours. However, she said he occasionally sold an amount to two acquaintance so he could afford his next purchase. Frake, a former chef, pleaded guilty to the charges, which included trafficking methylamphetamine, possessing amphetamines and possessing cannabis. The court heard Frake, 37, was arrested last October after police from the divisional response unit raided his Flora Hill home and found a small amount of drugs. A mobile phone, used to organise his purchases and sales, was also found. The prosecutor, Leading Senior Constable Jeff Lavery, said Frake was arrested as part of Operation Boort, which targeted the trafficking of ecstasy and amphetamines in the Bendigo area. The court heard Frake had bought the drugs from a known trafficker and someone who police had been monitoring for quite some time. He said Frake would meet the dealer once or twice a week and buy the drugs. Ms Youngson said Frake was co-operative with police and had helped them with their inquiries. She said he had since quit his job as a chef and was no longer relying on drugs to get by. The magistrate, Gregory McNamara, convicted Frake and sentenced him a to month community based order. He will have to undertake unpaid community work and complete counselling and treatment for drug abuse. Login or signup to continue reading. Today's top stories curated by our news team. Love footy?
