RWBY Blake Belladonna - Di Molto Bene Review Forrige Neste Forrige Neste
Howdy doo, everyone! Time for another spiderific review! Today I am continuing my string of reviews looking at Di Molto Bene's line of RWBY figures with their latest installment, Blake Belladonna. Click the images to go to the photo page and view them in full resolution.

The box is lovely and features assorted images of the figure along with a lavender color scheme.

After some assembly placing her on the base and putting the weapons in her hands, everyone's favorite Faunus is ready to bring some grace and beauty to your shelf. Here we have Blake gracefully posed on one foot while unsheathing her weapon, Gambol Shroud.

Like the rest of the figures in this line, this is based on the official illustrations of the characters by Asako Nishida used for localization of the series in Japan.

There are some small differences between posing of the original illustration and this figure. The posing of the ribbons around her leg are a bit different and her weapons are much less visible on the figure.

Some have complained about the face on the painted prototype when pre-orders opened, but it looks like Di Molto Bene made some subtle improvements in the final product. Her face seems to have been given some extra fullness, her mouth has been rounded, the parting of her lips have been narrowed, the protrusion of her lips have been brought back a bit and her lips have been given some more color. Along with that, her eyes have been slightly adjusted to straighten the direction of her gaze more. I think her face looks much less blank and derpy now. A few small tweaks can go a long way.

Her stare along with her parted lips gives a subtle sense of seductiveness to her expression, which is fitting for a cool and collected character like Blake. The bit of gloss added to her lips is also a nice touch.

Her outfit came out nicely with more shading work than I expected based on the simplicity of its black and white color scheme. There is also some nice use of shading in her skin. However, the paint for the lacing on her chest is a bit clumpy.

I especially like the hair. The sculpt is intricate showing her hair fanning out and twirling as she moves around. There is also plenty of shading and a faintly shiny coating giving her hair a clean and silky look. No doubt she washes her hair with Pantene.

Her leggings have some of the best paint work. There is a lovely blend of different shades of dark purple. Her emblem has a metallic silver coating that brightly shines when light is cast on it. The ribbons around her leg are somewhat weak, so you might not be able to get them positioned as shown in the pre-order pictures. I had to play around and bend them a bit to get them into position.

I'm not a fan of the acrylic pole for a couple of reasons. It is a bit awkward to look at. This clear pole supporting her by the ankle frankly looks more awkward than the rod shown in the prototype, which was attached to the bottom of her foot. This is mostly because of the support piece at the top, which goes around half of her ankle. I personally would have preferred if they stuck with the support rod used in the prototype, but kept the change in material to acrylic.

It is also a major pain in the butt to assemble because it is such a tight fit it the hole of the base. Whether I am inserting it or taking it out, I have to exert a lot of force because of the sheer tightness. I have mine simply propped against the hole, but not inserted because I fear it could break.

Speaking of the base, I am not particularly impressed with it. It is a plain black disk with a glittery gradient into dark purple in the center. It is decently pretty, but it certainly does not compare to Weiss' base.

As a set, there is some hard to ignore inconsistency with the bases. Ruby just has a plain black disk, Weiss has a lovely and transparent recreation of her glyph, then Blake has the same kind of base as Ruby with some dark purple in the center.

The upcoming Yang figure will have the same kind of base as Blake, but will be orange and yellow. So as a completed set, there will be an awkward lack of uniformity in their presentation on display. I am doing some experimenting with custom bases, so I will add this figures to my list to experiment on. You can read my reviews of Ruby Rose and Weiss Schnee in the links below.

The paint work for the weapons is good. There is some nice shading of silver and gunmetal black. The glittery metallic texture is a nice touch as well. It is a shame they are barely visible due to their position. But there is a simple solution to this problem: just flip them.

Just flip the weapons around and now Blake is in full attack mode. Both weapons are fully visible for your displaying enjoyment. I find this is much more dynamic than the default position.

At first I thought this wouldn't work because the ribbons would be positioned awkwardly, but they end up being in just the right position twirling around her sword.

My final thoughts? The base is not that great and the position of the acrylic pole is a bit distracting. Other than that, this is a great figure and a most welcome addition to my small, but growing RWBY collection. If you are a fan of the series, I would highly recommend adding this whole line to your collection. But like most Di Molto Bene products, they are a bit pricey for what could be considered just above average quality.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review. I hope it has aided you in your decision whether or not to add this item to your collection. This is ChocolateSpider signing out! :D
omg she's so beautiful nice review. I have her too she's so awesome
She's very cool looking..nice review!! ...and nice pics! :D
ChocolateSpider • 4 år siden • #36324724 My vote is for the Weiss figure. I think she has the most interesting pose and the base brings the whole thing together so nicely. :3 Oh yeah, pose-wise Weiss brings that mysteriousness to the figure. That being said, I think sculpt-wise or the style, the Blake looks the best imo. I think it's partially due to the Blake being sculpted by a different sculptor and the Ruby, Weiss, Yang being sculpted by M.I.C.
DonkeyBlonkey • 4 år siden • #36324542 I will say, the Blake figure looks the best out of all of the other girls.

victorviper • 4 år siden • #36322877 The support rod does look a little awkward, but I don't really see an alternative, as all that hair looks quite heavy coupled with the uneven weight distribution.

Well you do have a point. But I think it still would have worked using the previous method attached to the bottom of the foot. But considering my difficulties getting the rod insterted into the base, having it he way it is now is better because otherwise the rod would just be flat out unusable.
Interesting review, although I confess that I don't really know anything about the character or her origin.

On the subject of her hair, someone spent a lot of time on the sculpt there!

It's always nice to have reviews of figures from these lesser-known manufacturers, too.
Great review! I am considering geting this figure myself as I am currently getting into RWBY.

Former Impact valet Belladonna passes away (she was the bumping valet of The New Church in their feud with AMW)

Impact Wrestling personality Roxanne "Rocksan" Biggerstaff, who worked as a valet for the Disciples of the New Church stable as Belladonna, has passed away at the age of 40. Biggerstaff was found unresponsible Friday evening in her home. While EMTs worked on her and they were able to get her heart beating again, it was later determined that she had gone too long without oxygen and the decision was made yesterday to take her off life support.
Jim Mitchell commented on her passing on his Facebook page, writing, "R.I.P Rocksan Biggerstaff, a.k.a "Belladonna". She was our valet for Disciples of the New Church in the early days of NWA-TNA wrestling's weekly pay per views. Belladonna took all of the bumps and finishes I weaseled my way out of. Say hello to the rest of the gang for me, my love."
Wolfie D, who was part of the stable, originally broke the news on her passing on his Facebook page, writing, "Woke up this morning to find out that Rocksan Biggerstaff (aka Belladonna) who was the valet for my TNA faction, Disciples of The New Church, has passed away. I loved what she added to the group...she played her character well. Outside of the ring she was a sweetheart. My condolences to her family. "
Oh god that's terrible. At only 40,Poor girl. Thats too young.
This is fucking depressing. Rocksan has been fighting off addiction problems for the last ten years or so.
Rocksan was one of my first trainers when I got in the business. She was a kind, caring person who truly loved the sport of wrestling. Just a heartbreaking loss.
May she rest in peace. It's saddening to hear about people passing away so young.
For the porn fans out there, let me note that this is a different person than the person you might be thinking of.
Did Belladonna even make it to the "tube" age of porn? She's been away for over a decade as far as I know.
This is really sad. I somehow became Instagram friends with her in the past few years, trading cute cat pictures back and forth. She seemed like a kind, sweet person, but troubled. :(
She was also the bass player for the Teen Idols, first line-up.
