There is more to it - a lot more. In order to understand my own motives I studied every piece of literature I could find on the subjects of cross-dressing and fetishism at the medical school library and there are almost as many theories as there are publications. I’ve also talked with over a hundred other crossdressers either in person, by phone, or by correspondence and always ask how they got into it.
There was ONE and only one man - a guy from Dallas as I recall - that told me he’d never had a single experience or so much as a thought until he was in his mid twenties and walking through a dept. store on his lunch hour, passed a table of panties on clearance, and bought three, each a different size since he hadn’t a clue what the numbers meant. Crossdressing is simply an activity. A crossdresser is simply someone who enjoys crossdressing enough, to see it as part of their identity.
Crossdressing can be done in private, or for an event, and by itself crossdressing means nothing in terms of gender identity. There are many men that enjoy crossdressing, and most of them are cisgender and heterosexual.
Likewise, very few drag queens are trans women. Most of them identify as cisgender men, although gender diverse in their interests. They do not have any compelling need to transition to female fulltime.

When I am dressed as a man, in traditionally male clothes, then I feel like a man.
When I am working in my hotel room wearing a skirt, dress, stockings or whatever, then I feel like a comfortable man.
When I stop at a service station on the motorway wearing a pencil skirt with thick black stockings and order my coffee, then I feel like a comfortable man ordering coffee.

First of all, basically every gay guys I know is interested in men. The maleness of men is what turns them on and interests them. Even the most effeminate gay guy I know is focused on attracting other gay men, who again, are not interested in lady bits.

Well, I can speak from experience. I have been dressing since age 12 and am 54 now. I love being in women’s clothes and the feel of them is just fantastic. I can also say that the majority of my life has been spent in heterosexual relationships. I have been curious and finally crossed into bisexuality. Frankly, I don’t know what took me so long. It was wonderful and loved being a lady for a man.

ничего плохого нет в кроссдрессинге :) это же самый простой путь почувствовать себя другим человеком ;) а нам всем время от времени надо почувствовать что-то новое и вообще не обязательно выставлять это напоказ, можно тихонько делать это дома ;)
