Gemma Massey, 36, has had a successful career as a glamour model and adult actress, but now says she makes more money from home despite the pandemic
A glamour model dubbed 'Britain's best-paid porn star' who earns £25,000 a day was first spotted stacking shelves for £5-an-hour in Asda.
A photographer approached Gemma Massey and handed her his card when she was just 19 and working at her local store in Tamworth, Staffs.
Some 17 years later and the 36-year-old has just turned down £250,000 to film an adult movie in Los Angeles because she can earn more from her home, BirminghamLive reports.
She has travelled the world to film scenes and for photo shoots, become the first British woman to appear on the front Penthouse magazine and says she had new cars and free surgery written into her contract.
But she swapped the globetrotting lifestyle to launch her own online fans page, gemmamassey.co.uk, and claims working from the comfort of her living room has netted her more than £1 million.
She said: "It all started for me when I was spotted stacking shelves in Asda when I was 19. I was training to be a dental nurse at the time and wanted to earn some extra money.
"A guy approached me and told me he was a photographer and that I could be a glamour model.
"He gave me his card and decided to give him a call. I was earning less than £5 per hour at the time.
"I ended up being a page 3 model for lots of the tabloids and was a fans favourite in the Daily Sport.
"As my popularity grew I went over to America to do modelling work there and became the first woman from the UK to appear on the front page of Penthouse magazine.
"I got into adult films and at one point I was earning £25,000 per day. I would only work once a month. I had new cars and free surgery written into my contracts. I was earning a fortune."
Lockdown has seen a boom in people looking to online sex fans pages and at the end of 2020 she set up her own fans page.
She says the response has been phenomenal and she has earned as much as £25,000 per day and she doesn't have to leave her own house.
She added: "The response has been absolutely unbelievable since I launched it in December.
"I was offered a £250,000 contract to do porn in Los Angeles recently but I turned it down because of the amount of money I can earn online just working in my living room.
"The site allows other online sex workers to access the site. It is an excellent platform for all online sex workers. I launched it just at the right time.
"At the moment there is a huge demand for online sex sites. There are lots of people at home in lockdown and demand has soared.
"I can earn huge amounts of money and I don't even have to leave my living room. It is just phenomenal."
Gemma also owns two tanning salons in Tamworth and Derby and has a number of properties.
She added: "Glamour, porn and online sex work has really been brilliant for me.
"Not once have I not enjoyed my work and I have never been intimidated or exploited in any way. I am providing a service for many people out there and it is very lucrative."

So what happens if you are a UK citizen, legally married to a 16 year old, and go on holiday to California(aoc 18), do you have to sleep in separate rooms?.

Mexico has the lowest...12(!!). But with certain provisos, one of which is the person must have reached puberty. ie be capable of child bearing.
The other 31 states are 16. Some of these is 18 if in a position of responsibilty. (eg a teacher ).

there are CPS guidelines published on the net - personally, I think the complexity is illogical, but I suspect that results from the fact that the USA drives international law and wants cultural hegemony around the globe.
It seems odd that the UK has a TV series about underage and pregnant - haven't watched it, but I doubt it spends much time on the court cases for those that are...and if there is no routine prosecution - it de-values the law. also the law lumps together all underage sex without really discriminating between what is morally awful and would offend just about anybody with stuff that is technically illegal but goes on all the time, with the tacit approval or overt condoning by the parents. the issue about teens filming themselves doing something legal and it being labelled as child porn just doesn't make sense IMO.
the law is supposed to be there to protect young people - I'm not sure that it does that from a position of logic and indeed labels consensual behaviour as being such as deserving of the SOR.
as people have observed, 18 seems something of an arbitrary age considering the sexual conduct of young people, but if the Americans want 18, then that is what the world does - even if it potentially criminalises those that it is supposed to 'protect'.

Yes it is harsh. I'm only harsh because I would feel remiss if I didn't try and stop any young person from selling themselves so cheaply.
There are lots of fields you might excel in outside of psychology and porn. They aren't the only two options for your life.
Pornography is littered with the debris of destroyed lives. It's wrose now that everyone seems at it. You won't get rich and easy money is never around for long.
Ultimately, It's your life you can do what you like with it. If I've made you think a bit more about it, that's all I can (or hope) to do.
