Beautiful is story of a young woman who hopes to be the Miss American Pageant Winner. Mona Hibbard is a young woman who qualifies with her good looks to make it to the top of being a pageant winner. Her biggest problem is the fact that she has a child, so she struggles completely on becoming eligible to win since beauty pageant contestants aren't allowed to have children at all. Mona ends up facing huge problems with her life, so to fulfill her dreams, she decides to give her daughter Vanessa to her best friend Ruby Stillwell. Ruby agrees to raise her completely all on her own to make sure that Mona can make her dreams of being Miss America come true. As Mona gets closer and closer to her journey, she ends up struggling tremendously when so many things come down her way. She finds her life going downhill drastically as she soon learns about her life and tries to accept her past. She knows that she had simply abandoned her beautiful daughter for the sake of her dream, and as she begins to come into terms regarding all this, she has problems with going on with her dream. Aside from her having to deal with the pressure and pain of now accepting her daughter, she even ends up having a sleasy reporter try to hurt her chances at winning by spying on the life of Mona. The ambitious reporter tries her best to actually humiliate Mona by investigating on her so she can become a famous television star.
