he 2021 NFL regular season – and potentially Matt Nagy’s tenure as Bears head coach – comes to an end this weekend. T
Sunday’s Vikings-Bears game is one that few people outside of Minnesota and Chicago will keep an eye on, as both teams are out of postseason contention. The Bears don’t even have draft position to play for after dealing their 2022 first-rounder in a trade that netted Justin Fields. The Vikings, meanwhile, could be joining the Bears in firing their coach after Week 18.
Despite the seemingly meaningless finish to the season, the Bears have won two straight against the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants . Chicago’s latest victory over New York was a thumping from start to finish, with the Bears totaling four sacks and forcing four turnovers in the 29-3 triumph. David Montgomery rushed for two scores in the game as the Bears improved to 6-10.
The Vikings are limping to the finish line of this season, losing two straight after beating the Bears in Week 15. In Week 17, it was a loss to their rival Green Bay Packers – 37-10 on Sunday Night Football. Quarterback Kirk Cousins didn’t play in the game after testing positive for COVID-19 as an unvaccinated player. That defeat officially eliminated the now 7-9 Vikings from playoff contention.
So, which team will finish its season on a winning note? Here’s a full betting preview for the Week 18 matchup:
Moneyline: Bears +165 | Vikings -200
In 121 all-time meetings, the Vikings hold a 62-57-2 advantage over the Bears.
The Bears have had the edge recently, winning five of the last seven matchups dating back to 2018. The Bears haven’t lost in Minneapolis since 2017. Minnesota won on Monday Night Football at Soldier Field on Dec. 20, but both teams are out of the playoff hunt now.

The Chicago Bears will open the 2022 season against the San Francisco 49ers, which will be the first time in the last three years that Chicago opens the season at home.
The Bears and 49ers matchup will feature a battle between two of the first-round quarterbacks from the 2021 draft in Chicago’s Justin Fields and San Francisco’s Trey Lance, which certainly explains the season-opener appeal.
While the Bears will kick off the season at home, that’s not enough to convince oddsmakers that Chicago has a great chance to win this game. The Bears have opened as 6.5-point underdogs against the 49ers in Week 1, according to Tipico Sportsbook .
Last season, Chicago had a strong first half against San Francisco before the defense succumbed to the 49ers offense in the second half in a 33-22 loss. Fields recorded his first 100-yard rushing game, including an improbable 22-yard touchdown scramble to bring the Bears to within one point in the fourth quarter.
San Francisco is the first of six playoff teams from last year that Chicago will face in the 2022 season.
