so you have everything with you for the most beautiful days of the year

Sun, beach and sea, just be lazy and really relax. On a beach holiday, it is particularly easy to switch off from everyday life and recharge the batteries. Light luggage is sufficient. You can find out what my tried and tested packing list for a beach vacation looks like here. At the end of the article you can print out the packing list and add your own notes.

For us, a beach vacation doesn't just mean lying on the beach every day. We love to explore the surrounding area to get to know the highlights of the country. We like to alternate between beach and activity. For example, our trip to the Seychelles was an absolute dream vacation. Here we explored a total of three islands. The nice thing about a beach vacation (even with activities) is that you don't really need much and can travel light. With the right choice of individual items, such as beach towels and beach clothing, you can save quite a bit of volume and weight. I packed the following for a two week beach vacation:

• Passport (in many countries it must be valid for at least 6 months)
• Booking and flight confirmation
• Credit card (with emergency number) & cash in euros
• Depending on the country of travel, possibly an international birth certificate for minor children (information for each country is available from the Foreign Office )

Beach Vacation Packing List - Clothes & Shoes

• 2 light crease-resistant shorts
• 1 airy, long pants
• 1 summer dress (in tropical countries, because of the risk of sunburn, it is best to wear a dress that covers the shoulders)
• 5 t-shirts
• 1 light long-sleeved blouse
• Swim shirt   (ideal sun protection when bathing and snorkeling)
• 2 bikinis / swimming trunks
• Underpants
• 4 light bras
• Sarong   (for me an ideal, fast beachwear that hardly takes up space)
• Pajamas
• Socks
• personalized beach towels
• Headgear (hat or cap)
• 1 light fleece jacket (should it get cold in the evening)
• Flip flops
• comfortable sandals (e.g. from Birkenstock  )
• light sneakers

• Camera and charger
• optionally a GoPro   (for underwater recordings)
• Replacement memory card   and battery
• Mobile phone with charging cable (and headphones)
• universal travel adapter  
• e-Reader (I always have my Tolino   with me )

Summer vacation packing list - hygiene and first-aid kit

• Toiletry bag   (with shampoo, shower gel, lip balm, face cream, aftersun lotion, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, hairbrush, hair tie)
• Tampons
• Contraceptives / condoms
• Hand detergent
• Disinfectant wipes
• Medication for pain, diarrhea and possibly nausea
• Plasters, wound pads and bandages
• Wound disinfectant and ointment
• Medical thermometer & tweezers
• personal medication

Beach vacation packing list - everything else for the beach

• Daypack  
• 1 large bath sheet   made of microfiber, takes up little space and dries quickly
• 2 (at least) tubes of waterproof sunscreen
• sunglasses
• optional snorkel mask and fins  
• Drybag   (waterproof and sandproof bag) for the camera
• swimming aids for children if necessary
