A London photographer was exonerated of horrendous sexual abuse allegations against a girl who was exploited by her mom, stepdad and a former Degrassi High actor.
Justice Louise Botham acquitted Martin Galloway, 60, of sexual assault between 2001 and 2003, calling him a “strong and persuasive witness who gave his evidence clearly and coherently.

“I have great sympathy with the trauma suffered by the victim at the hands of her mother and stepfather who should have been protecting her,” said Botham.
“My concern lies not with her credibility but the inconsistencies in her evidence which make it impossible for me” to convict Galloway.
Galloway admitted he had a BDSM relationship with the girl’s mom but denied sexually abusing her child, now 31, while she was in her early teens.

The girl, her younger sister and brother were subjected to sexual abuse by their mom, stepdad while the eldest girl was also abused by former Degrassi High actor Jason Dickens, 48.

He pleaded guilty in 2018 and is awaiting sentencing. Another man, Sean O’Toole, was tried but acquitted last year of abusing the same girl.
The stepfather has completed a seven-year prison sentence while the mom is on day parole for a five-year prison sentence and earlier served a three-year sentence for abusing her children.
Botham believed Galloway’s denials but said she would have acquitted him anyway because of reliability problems with the alleged victim and credibility troubles with her mom.

“I tend to believe him … but even without his evidence, I would not be prepared to convict him of this charge,” said Botham.
“There are inconsistencies in (the victim’s) evidence which I cannot reconcile,” said Botham.
Galloway’s lawyer Daniel Brown said his client was relieved that he was acquitted, but his life has been ruined by the horrific allegation, which he strenuously denied since the day he was arrested in 2018.
