Consent – Like any BDSM activity, submissive tasks can look forced from an outsider’s point of view. But consent is is a cornerstone of any power exchange relationship, even if it only lasts a few hours. Subs and doms can establish consent through a BDSM contract , although consent may be verbal and informal.
When it comes to submissive tasks specifically, the couple may brainstorm and discuss tasks, ensuring individual tasks are agreed upon. So anything you make your submissive do is ultimately okay with them. However, the dominant may assign tasks that aren’t specifically agreed upon because of the submissive’s overall consent to the relationship.
Finally, submissive tasks might only happen once. But daily tasks might overlap with these rules for submissives .
Tasks for a submissive differ from BDSM punishments in several vital ways.

A dominant may give their slave tasks for several reasons. For example, these tasks serve as a reminder in a total power exchange relationship or any relationship with some element of BDSM. Tasks can be assigned in a way that’s playfully annoying, but submissives may find performing these tasks gives them a sense of pride and allows them to show their care and loyalty for their partner.
The dom may also use tasks to train their sub, which helps them become more submissive , and tasks can test how well the submissive listens or pays attention to detail. Tasks may progress over time, becoming more intricate or demanding.
On top of that, the specific or type of task might reflect the relationship and shared interests. For example, service subs are more likely to perform household chores. Because tasks should reflect the relationship and the unique people in it, not every sub has to perform the same tasks.
Submissive tasks can also include the cleaning and preparing of items such as bondage ropes used in BDSM scenes, giving them a practical purpose along with their significance to the couple or their relationship.
Finally, a dominant might assign tasks to their submissive to help the submissive become a better person or care for themself. If the submissive forgets to eat, having a healthy snack or meal could become a task. Similarly, paying bills can become a submissive task if it suits the dom and sub.
Depending on what type of dom they are, they may choose to reward their submissive for completing tasks according to expectations and on time. However, the reward for finishing a task is often the dom’s response and the pride a sub has in a job well done.
Examples include, taking a morning selfie for makeup and clothing approval or sending a nude selfie at night.

Help the dominant start their morning off right by brewing their morning coffee and serving it the way they prefer. Pack the dominant’s lunch (with an adoring note).

Edging is a related activity that can work as a task, and dominants can require the submissive to ask to orgasm or even wear a chastity device. Calling your sub repeatedly while their phone is on vibrate and between their legs is an especially devious thing to a submissive! You can also mix this with sending them dirty text messages .
Filming a solo session for the dominant is also an option for a task, especially if the video needs to meet specific requirements.

Aside from the dominant, submissives may write correspondence to others. Submissives may have to create either, either as a way to spend time on existing hobbies or develop new skills.
Finally, subs can read the same book as doms to engage in discussions, like a personal book club.

Specifying self-care as a BDSM task ensures that submissives look after themselves, and self-improvement tasks help the slave grow. Furthermore, the dom can help the sub break tics or bad habits such as chewing nails, picking, or something else through tasks. Speaking positive affirmations about themselves in front of the dom can build self-confidence and also works if you have a praise kink.

Chores are the perfect thing to make a submissive do especially if the chore is something the dominant doesn’t like. However, tasks for subs can go far beyond scrubbing the toilet! Cleaning out the dominant’s inbox can be a time-consuming task, and subs will need to work harder if their task is a DIY project.
Helping the dominant dress (tying ties, buttoning clothing, etc.) is incredibly intimate and requires attention to detail.
Outside of the home, the sub may be tasked with dropping off documents or running errands. This can include shopping for a specific item.
Dominants commonly get to dictate how their subs look. The sub may get some choice. For example, they could pick a few clothing options which the dominant can make the final choice from (for example, picking three pairs of lingerie). The dom may specify that the sub wear nail polish or makeup but not the specific look.
However, doms can take it further by requiring permission to wear underwear or having the submissive wear a certain outfit or piece depending on what day of the week it is. Wearing an item such as a collar that signifies ownership brings most subs so much pleasure that it almost doesn’t count as a task.

On top of that, shaving or trimming pubic hair is a common task, and the dom might request more complicated pubic hairstyles to increase the challenge.
There are plenty of tasks that involve ensuring the dominant never feels bored, and you can probably think of a few that aren’t listed below.
Submissives may have to endure a specific type or intensity of pain for their dominants. For example, they might move from spanking to caning.
Finding new ways for the dom to tie them up, new ideas for punishments, or other ideas for a sub can be an assignment, too.

Because of this, you may need to adjust tasks based on where you are and if you’re together. Come up with ways that the sub can complete the task. Here are some general guidelines on how to approach:
All the ideas listed here are written from a perspective where a male is a Master, and a female is a slave. However, all the ideas can easily be turned around.
1. Set rules on how to address you in private and in public.
