In sun-kissed Emerald Bay, the vigorous Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon and Baywatch, his elite team of hand-picked and perfectly tanned lifeguards, protect the bay, keeping both sunbathers and beach lovers safe. However, this summer, two new eager trainees will join the demanding life-saving program, as well as an insubordinate former Olympic swimmer, who are all called to prove their worth on the lifeguard towers just on time when a new synthetic street drug begins to infest the Emerald Bay: the flakka. Without a doubt, this calls for some serious undercover teamwork action, as the badgeless heroes in spandex comb the beach for shady newcomers and nefarious entrepreneurs with hidden agendas of their own. Can Mitch's band save the bay?

"Baywatch" suffices as mindless entertainment. I've never seen the television program, other than a clip shown in "Red Corner," so can't compare it. It has the feel of a script written for television, but with a bigger budget and greater freedom to present adult-ish content, which actually seems geared more to adolescent boys. As such, it seems a bit incongruous at times, trying to titillate without getting raunchy. There are several action scenes and car chases that are well executed, a few nods to the original series, some self-deprecating humor and self-parody of the type seen in "22 Jump Street." Although the premise is unrealistic, the actors never seem self-conscious and don't wink at the camera, which helps make some of the weaker humor funnier, as if the entire cast is playing straight man to the original program's screwball. It doesn't try to be the least bit cerebral or cathartic. But as light entertainment, especially for somebody who missed the television program, it gets the job done.<br/><br/>Kudos to the filmmakers for using some sort of rigid camera mounts, avoiding the jigglycam shots that are overused in many films.
Omg this movie was an amazing movie I loved this movie so much I never thought this movie would be this amazing I actually thought it would be an OK movie but it was amazing it absolutely deserves a 10/10 the beginning to the end of the movie was amazing the ending was my favorite though i loved it didn't think I would love this movie this much but I do it even brung back 2 of the original TV show stars of Baywatch that was amazing but this movie was so funny and so entertaining it definitely deserves this rating I think it's one of the best comedies of all time now I loved it I definitely recommend watching this I will definitely be buying this on blu-ray so worth it.
