Telephone Pole Gnomes - Around the early 2011, a mysterious slew of visitors began to appear in Oakland. The bearded men wore vintage clothes, peculiar hats and boots. What happened next was artists painting small folk-art rendering portraits and then attached them to the end of the telephone poles in the areas of Oakland such as Temescal and the Grand Lake. Pacific Gas & Electric intended to get rid of the installations before an outcry from the public prompted them to leave the gnomes be.
