I didn't bother to see this in the theatre because I heard it was really bad and I thought the first two were just "ok." So I was really surprised and confused about why it got bad reviews. This plot seemed to have the most depth and be the most relevant for everything that's happening in right now. Specifically the murder rate in Chicago, and the nationwide challenges with the number of young black dying because of the force used by police officers. In the past Cube has touched on or generalized the issues in low income black communities, but this time I feel like used his platform to speak DIRECTLY about all that's happening and inspiring change. And I think it helps that he's a "credible" source. This isn't some Hollywood smoe preaching/dramatizing. He's seen it and lived it. And it's nice to see someone like him say "getting shot is corny." Anyway the characterizations were a good balance that allowed the real story be told. The acting and jokes weren't over the top like they've been in the past. Even Nikki Minaj surprised me... "Dante'" from Blackish is hilarious (nonverbal + comedic timing).. and Common was solid/believable... I also have been loving me some Regina Hall the last couple of years (it's her time). The addition of the black dude from "New Girl," the Indian kid, and the sunflower child were all good adds, as well. I was entertained. Good job.

I enjoyed the movie as a whole; but the issue was that in the first two movies the characters were a bit more flushed out. It felt as though the new ones were just there with no real history. I did not care for the pokes at out President, it was bad timing. One again, Ice Cube was able to pull off "tough street" guy with a wonderful, caring dad who was not going to let bad things happen to his son. The experience of young black men in this country was told in such a way that we can all get it. Side note: I could have gotten by just fine without Niki Minaj. Boring, predictable and a terrible actress. Thank you Eve for showing us how it's done! Overall, I would recommend

I enjoyed it a lot. We are in Chicago and the only complaint was that unfortunately every movie that speaks to Chicago only talks about the violence. We watched it with our13 year old girl who although has been born and raised in Chicago is very sheltered from the streets. We live in the city, but keep our eye on her every move. The movie got uncomfortable for her at some points, but she is mature enough to talk to us about it. I laughed a lot and completely related to some of the issues raised in the movie. I actually think the cast did an excellent job of bringing humor and addressing serious issues. You should watch this with your teenagers, but be mindful of language and sexual suggestions, overall a great movie.

I only watched this because my spouse went and saw it and didn't say much about it. Whenever a movie has more plot than action he usually responds that way so I wanted to check it out. It was surprisingly well written. There were a few B-line stories that I didn't expect and it was nice how they tied in the continued personalities of some earlier Barbershop film characters. It was serious and brought up some points from both the side of the politician and the neighborhood person. There was just enough comedy to keep it from being a full out drama. But it was a good twist considering it is a "threequel" (play off of sequel). I like how Ice Cube continues to think out the box and stretch himself to see what else he can do.

A wonderfully big small movie filled with heart and soul. Watch this movie... I promise you laughs tears and sincerity An ending that so beautifully reenforces the movies message . Filled with the spirit of many of the true classics like the bittersweet charm of the best of Frank Capras films . I loved this film because it was a true effort of love, a shoutout of hope from Chicagos South Side, and maybe just maybe the new tide the new powers that be the anti politican the anti status quo revolution sweeping across the Country might be a sign of hope and not of destruction . Nothing has changed for the better in decades yet the spark of hope remains this movie is,a testament to that hope and the importance of finding solutions to problems the politicans have only made worse.
