Legendary Journalist Barbara Walters Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at 95

In a star-studded ceremony at the Lincoln Center, broadcasting icon Barbara Walters was posthumously honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism for her trailblazing career that spanned over five decades. The event, attended by media luminaries, former colleagues, and admirers, celebrated Walters' unparalleled contributions to television news and her role in shattering glass ceilings for women in journalism.

Walters, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 93, was remembered for her groundbreaking interviews with world leaders, celebrities, and controversial figures—from Fidel Castro to Monica Lewinsky. Her signature style, blending hard-hitting questions with empathy, redefined broadcast journalism.

'Barbara didn’t just report the news—she made history with every interview,' said ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer, a longtime friend and colleague. 'She taught us that curiosity, persistence, and compassion could change the way we see the world.'

The award was accepted by Walters’ daughter, Jacqueline Danforth, who shared heartfelt memories of her mother’s dedication to storytelling. 'She believed in giving people a voice, whether they were presidents or everyday heroes,' Danforth said.

The ceremony also featured a montage of Walters’ most iconic moments, including her famous 1999 interview with Monica Lewinsky and her emotional 1981 sit-down with Katharine Hepburn.
