For Dennis, 20, from the port of Kolding in southern Denmark, balloons are more than just a party favour - they're a way of life.
One of a growing number of 'looners' worldwide, Dennis and girlfriend Lila, 21, are sexually attracted to the rubber inflatables and say that the toys play a key role in their private life.
Strange though it might sound, the couple insist that not only is their penchant for balloons harmless, it's completely normal as well.

That, however, is not what Dennis thought when he first realised he had an unusual interest in balloons as a teenager.
'I was just continually inflating this balloon and feeling it against my body and then suddenly, it was just the most fantastic and extraordinary thing I have ever tried,' he says of his eureka moment.
But his euphoria soon gave way to fear. 'The way I felt after I found out that I had this special interest in balloons was that I was a freak,' he admits.
'I felt that I was standing out. And I felt most of all that I was alone.'
But, as he soon discovered following a foray onto the internet, he wasn't. Indeed, as Denis soon found out, he wasn't even unusual.
The 'looner' community worldwide is thought to be approximately 250,000 strong, with men outnumbering women by 30 to one.

Despite sounding like an internet-fuelled phenomenon, looners have also been around for more than three decades, with the first looner club, Buster Bill's Balloon Buddies, launched in 1976.
'A looner has a special interest for balloons,' he explains. 'We use balloons as a sexual aid and we see balloons differently than most other people do.'
For her part, girlfriend Lila had long harboured a fetish for latex outfits and voluptuous gentlemen but all that changed when she met Dennis.
Now a committed looner herself, she says she enjoys being able to combine her penchant for chunky chaps with balloons.
'I love that my man is big,' she smiles. 'It's just who I am and I love big things. I see the balloons a little bit like a man, a big man who I am trying to make a little love with.'
So what exactly does being a looner involve? According to Dennis, much of it revolves around blowing up balloons and cuddling them, although colours do, apparently, make a difference.

'What turns me on about a balloon is mainly the expansion part of it,' he confesses. 'I am very fascinated that such a small thing can grow into being huge without having to explode, although they do, of course, explode occasionally.
'Every colour wakes up a feeling inside of me,' he adds. 'The yellow colour makes me happy. And then there is these red and black colours as well which are like: "I'm naughty. Do whatever you'd like to do with me".'
'Balloons are brought out during special times, which is one thing that would make it more likely to be a fetish object than something you would see every single day,' comments sexologist and sociologist, Dr Carol Queen.
'Part of the thing that makes a balloon fetish too is that many look as though they're a sexual shape. Many balloons are very breast like. Others are buttock-like.'
Regardless of what shape they are, Dennis, who prefers special balloons made from natural latex, says he won't be giving up his penchant for inflatables any time soon.
'If I had to choose between Lila and my balloons, then I would of course choose her first,' he muses. 'But if there wasn't any other way of doing it, I would probably just hide it and do it by myself.'

What do you do with balloons that are left after a fabulous party, you pop them! this can be fun for some but pain for others. I sympathise with either side of this argument. Balloon are good fun, but after their use is completed we need a way to dump them. Its a messy affair whether you chose to pop or deflate it, bit of a pain for the people who blew them all up and decorated the place as they have to then undo all of their hard work. But it is what it is. Below some best methods to pop balloons and some to deflate them noiselessly. Enjoy!
An easy way to get rid of loads of balloons in less time. This can also be used as a party game or for cleaning. It usually involves fast pricking using sharp objects such as a needle/safety pin. Simply prick the balloon enough to cause the rubber to tear and let out all the air, causing a massive bang.
One of my personal favourites. This can also be used as a party game. Just use your nails to crush the balloon, easy for women as they usually keep large nails. A variation can be to use nails to tear the balloons apart from a single concentrated point.
Another Fast method, not much to explain here for anyone. You can also use a lighter for this purpose. Pin popping may not work instantaneously but this one does hence be sure to be surprised! Also, I have noticed that this usually leads to a louder bang. Maybe it has to do with the combustion of the balloon surface.
A fun method for under-inflated or perfectly inflated ones. This can also be used as a party game. It is easy enough just sit on it and bounce, over-inflated ones give away but others take time even when you jump hard enough!
A great party game because of its versatility.
A variation is to lay on top of a balloon, and bounce upon it with the whole body, instead of just sitting; it is often shown to be done with huge balloons.
Somewhat the same method as above it just uses feet/hands instead of butt. This can also be used as a party game.
A dangerous method that can hurt the popper. It is yet another interesting party game or a dare. To do this just grab the neck of the balloon lick it if you want, take a some of the inflated portion inside and bite it/pull it apart. After this you will probably feel pain of being hit by stretched rubber with a pop.
An easy method for people wearing heels. Just make sure the balloon is nicely inflated and press the bulb of inflated balloon with your heel till it pops.
Squeezing a balloon between one's arms, or between their legs, until the balloon explodes. Requires a lot of strength and also audacity to face the sharp pop on your skin :p
Now some deflation methods for people who cannot bear with the loud and sudden popping sound or for situations where you can't afford to make too much noise.
This is easy and refreshing because you get rapidly rushing air in your face. Grab the balloons in your underarm and stretch its neck and carefully cut the balloon near the lip, hold it until all air comes out.
Hold the balloon's neck near your mouth and tear the latex using your teeth. The Balloon may pop be careful though! for extra care tear a non-tight neck part of balloon.
This is a better and fun method. It also works like a magic trick if you use a see-through/transparent tape
Apply tape on the bulb of the balloon and the slowly prick the taped part using a pin, trust me it won't pop you can also use a cigarette but needle is better.
There are lots of challenges related to balloons and balloon popping/deflation. You can find most of them on Youtube. There are balloon hacks, balloon challenges, even balloon ASMR and lots more interesting stuff that you can find online. I will let your search results guide you and not spoil these interesting challenges too much for you.
One common challenge is the blow to pop challenge. Its pretty much of a no brainer activity, blow the balloon until it bursts. It requires a lot more daring to achieve this, as some of the balloons have a very large bang. I dare you to try it out if you are feeling bored some time and have a few balloons lying around. You can give this as a dare activity at parties as well :)
The instructions are simple. All you have to do is grab a balloon, stretch it and blow it. To achieve maximum inflation, inflate it until its tight and deflate it back. Do this about 4 times for the balloon to achieve its theoretical maximum size (honestly, it will achieve more that that). Once the neck comes the end is near as soon; as you have completely inflated the neck be patient and blow if you can until you are surprised by a loud pop sound! it is fun if you are daring and can tolerate loud sounds.
