Ballbusting is a form of torture that causes pain to a man’s genitals. The term is often associated with a woman torturing a man for her own pleasure (either literally or figuratively) or with difficult, nonsexual situations that metaphorically mimic the pain of this type of torture.
The term ballbusting combines ball , an informal term referring to a man’s testicles, and busting , a synonym of breaking or rupturing . It may additionally allude to the idioms, busting one’s balls (to work extremely hard) and busting someone’s balls (to punish someone, to make matters very difficult for them, or to tease them).
In pornography, ballbusting is a subgenre of cock-and-ball torture (CBT) videos in which women—sometimes in the role of a BDSM dominatrix—kick, stomp on, or squeeze the scrotum or testicles of their male partner(s). In Japanese porn, ballbusting is known as tamakeri . This practice brings with it significant health risks for the male partner. Popularity of online videos and erotica tagged with the search-term ballbusting porn has risen significantly since the mid-2000s.
Perhaps nodding to the above idioms, the term also has a related figurative meaning that may have influenced the pornographic terminology. Figurative ballbusting refers to causing pain by insulting or teasing someone, usually a friend or significant other, or to an activity that induces emotional pain the same way the physical act does.
Ballbusting has also developed gendered connotations—since the 1940s, women and men alike have used ballbusting or ballbreaking metaphorically to refer to a woman putting a man in his place.
The term ballbusting today is most often associated with pornography, specifically the CBT genre. Popular porn video and erotica websites devote categories to the genre.
Ballbusting has also come to be associated by some with a misandrist brand of feminism, which started in the 1970s. Women who do not identify as feminists or who do not connect with what they perceive as the “anti-man” brand of feminism use ballbusting to refer to women whom they believe call themselves feminists because they hate men (and not because they desire gender equality). The association likely comes from ballbusting’s connection to the image of the dominatrix from BDSM torture porn.

Cock and ball torture ( CBT ), occasionally known as penis torture , dick torture , or male genitorture / male genital torture , is a sexual activity involving the application of pain or constriction to the penis or testicles . This may involve directly painful activities, such as genital piercing , wax play , genital spanking , squeezing, ball-busting, genital flogging, urethral play , tickle torture , erotic electrostimulation , kneeing or kicking. [1] The recipient of such activities may receive direct physical pleasure via masochism , or emotional pleasure through erotic humiliation , or knowledge that the play is pleasing to a sadistic dominant . Many of these practices carry significant health risks. [2]
Similar to many other sexual activities, CBT can be performed using toys and devices to make the penis and testicles more easily accessible for attack, or for foreplay purposes. [3] [4]
A ball stretcher is a sex toy that is used to elongate the scrotum and provide a feeling of weight pulling the testicles away from the body. This can be particularly enjoyable for the wearer as it can make an orgasm more intense, as testicles are prevented from moving up. Intended to make one's testicles permanently hang much lower than before (if used regularly for extended periods of time), this sex toy can be potentially harmful to the genitals as the circulation of blood can be easily cut off if over-tightened.
While leather stretchers are most common, other models consist of an assortment of steel rings that fastens with screws, causing additional but only mildly uncomfortable weight to the wearer's testicles.
