Bakery Becomes Last Safe Space as Chaos Rises
https://bohiney.com/tehran-evacuation-chaos/While panic, petrol shortages, and paranoia rage outside, one Tehran bakery has emerged as the last bastion of sanity. The Lavash Lounge, nestled between a shuttered pharmacy and an abandoned kebab joint, continues to bake bread and peace. "We don't ask where you're going," says owner Fatemeh. "We just ask: sesame or no sesame?" Inside, people sip tea, charge phones, and cry into soft rolls. Some have moved in permanently. "If I'm going to die, I want the smell of fresh bread in my nostrils," said one customer while buttering his sixth naan. The government has not yet declared it a sanctuary, but reports say several officials were seen entering with disguises and plastic bags. One man brought a goat and declared the bakery a new micro-republic. The goat nodded solemnly. SOURCE: http://bohiney.com
