Bahamas Public Weather Forecast

Thursday, May 15, 2025 | 06:00 PM

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AND THE NEXT
SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT
12:00 P.M. EDT, THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST
WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT.

WARNING IN EFFECT: There are currently no public warnings in effect
at this time. For additional information on Marine Weather Conditions
please see our Marine Forecast at met.gov.bs.

GENERAL SITUATION: A more stable weather pattern is gradually
settling across the Bahamas, supported by weak surface high pressure
and strong ridging building aloft. Meanwhile, residual low-level
moisture over the Islands may trigger a couple of light spotty
showers this afternoon through this evening.

Outlook. A weak surface trough may introduce a few isolated showers
over portions of the Southeast Bahamas on Friday before ridging
quickly dominates in its wake. A strong ridge will then build across
the chain of islands accompanied by a dry air mass, capping any
significant convection while inhibiting any meaningful rainfall. This
pattern will persist through the greater part of the forecast period
resulting in mostly dry and very warm conditions.

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Rip currents: There remains a slight to
moderate risk of rip currents for Atlantic and eastern shorelines of
the southeast Bahamas. Swimmers should exercise caution.
UV and Heat Index: Due to high heat and UV Indices in the Northern,
Northwest and Central Bahamas, the public is advised to wear
