A Zelda: Breath of the Wild fan is making bad Zelda art every day until the release of BOTW 2, and has just celebrated their 365-day milestone.
A Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fan has vowed to create bad Zelda art every day until the release of Breath of the Wild 2 , and has just celebrated an impressive 365 days of drawings. The Redditor may have set themselves up for quite a challenge, with Nintendo perhaps not releasing BOTW 2 until late 2022 .
Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 may be one of the most highly-anticipated sequels of all time, with its predecessor often recognized as being one of the biggest of Nintendo's achievements. The original Breath of the Wild has continued to impress players since it first released alongside the Nintendo Switch in 2017, offering beautiful visuals in an expansive open-world, with hidden secrets and exploits still being discovered to this day. Nintendo confirmed the game's sequel, currently known as Breath of the Wild 2 , in 2019, though news remained quiet until the latest trailer was released this summer. The BOTW 2 trailer revealed the game will feature an overworld in the clouds, teased alongside a newer, darker adventure for Link and Zelda.
Redditor and artist theDuckPancake has been a regular contributor to the r/breathofthewild subreddit, posting one piece of self-described " bad " Zelda artwork each and every day for the past year. According to the creator, they're " drawing badly until BOTW 2 ," with a new piece of artwork posted daily. These comedic and charming works typically appear in the form of memes and jokes involving the game's NPCs and enemies, drawn in a minimalistic style. The funny posts have regularly seen love from the subreddit, with the latest anniversary piece receiving over 6,000 upvotes.
theDuckPancake has set themselves quite a challenge, as Breath of the Wild 2 doesn't yet have a firm release date. The creator has stuck to their pledge for the last year though, which should mean they'll see it out until the end. It's likely that the artist's final piece of artwork when Breath of the Wild 2 does launch is set to be something extra special, and hopefully will be worth the long wait. Fans of the artist can catch up on 365 days' worth of pieces - as well as their next daily postings - via Reddit.
Nintendo hasn't yet offered Breath of the Wild fans a firm release date for their calendars, but it's likely that BOTW 2 is aiming for a late 2022 release. After announcing the game is targeting a 2022 launch, Nintendo caveated the news by stating this is an aim and not a certainty, which likely means an early 2022 launch isn't possible. Nintendo could instead be intending the game to be holiday 2022's bestseller, perhaps targeting an internal November release date, which is usually when the company launches big-name games such as Pokémon . Fans will have to wait a little longer to find out for sure when Breath of the Wild 2 will release .

In this article on Kotaku, Miyamoto says that Zelda 2 is his "bad game".
Big problem for me, I love this game to death ! I played it so much, and loved it to no end. I cannot find anything that could have been done better to positively change the game. It has its problems, sure, but the underlying philosophy of the game is perfect.
When Miyamoto says that what was on paper is what ended up in the game, I understand. It doesn't have the sense of exploration of Zelda, or the sense of constant redefining of the surrounding world of Mario 3, or the wonderment of Mario 64, but it's extremely SOLID.
I really want to see what you guys think. Because it's harsh when a creator says that one of his favourite things to you is "bad".
But he doesn't even really say it's "Bad", He more just felt that they could have done much more with the game.
Also, in my mind, your opinion here says very good things about Miyamoto. He believed this to be the worst game he made, and you prove that even though he thought it wasn't good enough, it was still a really good game to you.
Addendum: I also really like Zelda 2, never finished it though.
To its credit it was possibly the hardest Zelda game ever made.
Miyamoto doesn't like solid, he likes delightful. Zelda 2 may be great or terrible but that's all irrelevant because either way it doesn't match his philosophy.
That's very well said. You're right. He was firing on all cylinders during that time and that was his only "non-delightful" game of that era.
I played it for the first time on GBA and I loved it. Towns and NPCs in side scrolling form, the likes of which we didn't see until Castlevania 2! A huge huge map. Items that changed the way you move on the overworld! Dungeons that felt like labyrinths! Probably the best and most heart pounding combat in the series until Wind Waker also.
And it has that legendary temple music. So so catchy.
Loved it to because of the towns and characters, something which the original really lacked. A flawed game for sure but there were some great ideas there.
Zelda II was pretty bad. A lot of really weird, cryptic and somewhat random shit you have to do to beat the game. There's no real sense of direction, the NPCs tips made no sense. It didn't feel like an adventure like the rest of the Zelda games did. It felt more like I was just wandering around doing random shit until I happened to find the right path.
Side scrolling also doesn't benefit the Zelda series well either, a series built around open ended puzzle solving.
The Legend of Zelda was a game about exploring a giant map, and killing monsters, and collecting new tools to traverse more dungeons. Zelda 2 had all that in spades. It wasn't really a puzzle-oriented series until Ocarina of Time.
Agree. Doubt I would have ever finished this game or Castlevania 2 without the help of Nintendo Power.
Not going to lie, looking at his list, Link's Crossbow Training is his only bad game.
I'm embarrassed to say I perfected Link's Crossbow Training. I wouldn't actually call it an awful game, but I'm sure it's worse than Zelda 2.
Actually, it was $20 at launch, came with the gun thing for the Wiimote and Nunchuk, and wasn't a bad game in it's own right. Zelda 2 was his "least best" game, a complete departure from the groundwork set in Zelda 1 (which carried on throughout the series).
I hated Zelda 2, and still do. Honestly, I just felt like the gameplay was really sloppy and far too difficult. The biggest problem was the grinding. Grinding for fuck's sake! No Zelda since has forced such behavior and all for the better. While I do think the last 4 or 5 Zelda games have become stale, Zelda 2 tried to do things too differently and suffered for it.
Grinding? I replayed the entire thing a few years ago and don't remember doing any grinding.
I want to like Zelda 2, I really do. It's only one thing that makes me not like the game. Shields. The enemies with shields make this game not very fun to play beyond the first couple dungeons. Their reflexes become very annoying, no matter how much I enjoy the sword on shield noise.
Maybe there are more tricks to the combat than jumping into a ducking stab but that was the only thing I could find that worked, and even that seemed fairly random.
Shield enemies are insanely easy once you figure out the trick: Jump up and and attack on the way down so that your extended sword taps the enemy on the scalp a split second before you land. You don't use a ducking stab to do this, just regular jumping posture, and it never misses. It's also good on the crocodile people who throw axes.
Using this technique sucks in it's own way. Instead of these enemies being too difficult, they are now far too easy, and when you find yourself breezing past them it's doesn't feel like you deserve any sort of glory.

This game was designed purely to piss you off and be difficult. There's no fairness or equality, no consideration even toward the player. Monsters are designed with one goal in mind, and that is to be as absolutely inconvenient to you at all times. There's nothing to figure out. There's no strategy. It's just pure frustration. I've been playing games for 25 years. I've played and beaten every Zelda game but this one. . . and I never will. I tried downloading this game for my 3DS, thinking it would be fun and enjoyable like the original Zelda I got a few months back. Boy was I wrong. Do not ever get this game if you're looking for a casual Zelda game to play. THIS IS NOT THAT GAME! Props to everyone who ever beat it. And my sympathies to you as well.
Welcome to the internet, you must be new here. Let me introduce you to my friend sarcasm... he hangs out here all the time =)
Someone hasn't played Link: Faces of Evil or Zelda: Wand of Gamelon. And, even if it was the worst Nintendo-made Zelda ever, it's still in the top quarter or third of all NES or Nintendo console games.
It's far from a purely bad game, it's just significantly different from your typical game. Exploration's not that boring and I can think of far worse platformer/adventure games released for the NES. You haven't really mentioned any specific parts of the game and the whole "there's nothing to figure out" is clearly false as there's a few puzzles, upgrades, etc to be had. The only really irksome thing I can think of is EXP draining enemies motivating you to stay in one area and grind to each level instead of questing ahead and risking losing lots of built-up exp.
This really isn't a bad game. I consider it to be one of my favorites actually. The only bad thing I can really possibly think of is that some of the stuff is pretty secretive and you probably won't figure it out without a guide and those are plentiful nowadays. The combat is fun yet still challenging at parts. Controls are responsive and stabbing and jumping are both fluid. Sure there are a few parts where enemies are kind of set up to knock you down a hole but there are generally ways to get around those parts either with careful timing or magic. The gameplay may be different from other Zelda games but its far from a bad game and is one of the better sidescrolling action games for NES.
The title made me laugh. Just another trolling hater that spent twenty minutes playing and got killed by bots and said it sucked. Interestingly enough, this game is one of the fairest and most balanced on the NES, possibly of the whole Zelda franchise as in all games that followed you're way overpowered. You level up and enemies get tougher as you go, or you can level up fully and laugh at your enemies as they cower before your might. And with the most difficult enemies you fight them one at a time. You are never given a room full of darknuts and statues that shoot fireballs at you constantly, you just have to fight a single ironknuckle or doomknocker and that's it. I think it's actually quite a bit easier than LoZ. If this game were really as difficult as TC claims, there wouldn't be any of us crazies that beat the game at 1-8-1 or 1-1-4 or in less than 90 minutes. Or how about the video of the dude that did a no damage run? Difficult game? Nonsense.
In the beginning you will see a black square. This is actually a cave. Make Zelda walk into the cave and get the Brown Sword. The rest is easy if you have it.
About this game ... Even Nintendo seemed to realize their mistake in producing this game. As viewers say that it is "very different" from the first Zelda Nintendo picked up on this negative feedback and returned to the well-liked Zelda I features in all their subsequent games. To those who maintain their liking for Zelda II they should hold on to that game because it's unlikely Nintendo will ever produce a similar game.
Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.
I didn't even know that this was supposed to be the "worst Zelda ever" at the time. I thought it was great - hard, but great. I played through it a dozen times, if not more.
Zelda II was my first video game ever, after Super Mario Bros. So there really is no way I could've hated it for biased reasons. (plus I was like 5 years old so I didn't know how) :p I love this game. I'm actually the opposite in that I feel Zelda 1 was inferior to Zelda 2. I just thought everything in Zelda 2 was so much better! Except the lack of items, though. That's really the only negative thing I can think of.
Don't get so caught in your ways that you can't change. New Leaf: 1848-1767-4958
Monsters are designed with one goal in mind, and that is to be as absolutely inconvenient to you at all times. Isn't being an inconvenience kind of the point of enemies in video games? Would you like this game better if there were no enemies or traps and all you did was walk around finding palaces and walking through the palaces until you found the item and placed the crystal?

The title screen and game select menu are absolutely inconvenient to you at all times, all they do is get in the way of the inconvenience of not having the win handed to you.
