WARNING: This movie contains foul language and nudity.... NOT appropriate for children. Having said that, Cameron Diaz does a remarkable job of playing the pot-smoking, foul-mouthed, greedy individual. Justin Timberlake is a great compliment to the cast as a nerdy, rich boy. Without giving away too much of the plot, I like the movie because Diaz' character is very much like the character in the Shakespeare play, "Taming of the Shrew" inasmuch as she learns a valuable lesson on what things are more important in life. That said, no more spoilers. If you don't mind the nudity, sexual situations, and language, this movie is quite funny.... at least I enjoyed it.

Bad Teacher is a comedy starring Cameron Diaz as Elizabeth Halsey, a middle school teacher with aspirations of marrying rich. She originally quits teaching and is forced to return when her rich boyfriend dumps her. She is forced to return to teaching, which for her amounts to playing movies so she can sleep off hangovers, smoke pot, insult the students, and hit on Justin Timberlake's character. It is a pretty by the numbers comedy/reformation story with Elizabeth correcting the error of her ways by the end. For those who get the Blu-Ray, both the theatrical version and the slightly longer unrated version are included. The extras include a gag reel, deleted scenes, outtakes, and a few behind-the-scenes featurettes. Probably about 40 minutes worth of extras total. Not a ton, but fine for a non-blockbuster comedy. Overall, the movie is good, but not as strong as some of the other comedies that came out around the same time. Diaz is funny and never shies away from making fun of herself. It has a strong supporting cast including Jason Segel, Phyllis Smith, John Michael Higgins, Molly Shannon, Thomas Lennon, and Eric Stonestreet. I would not call it a must-see, but it is worth checking out if you are looking for a comedy to watch to kill an hour and a half.

Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz) is your typical girl looking for love in all the wrong places. Just kidding. She’s a self-absorbed, foul-mouthed gold-digger whose rich fiancé dumps her, and she has to start over. She’s back to teaching middle-school kids — something she hates. She dodges her responsibility by showing her students movies (super-inappropriate ones) while she sleeps during class. She is also on the prowl for the next meal ticket. In comes Scott (Justin Timberlake), a nice enough but clueless millionaire at the school. Elizabeth is on that! The problem? Scott is more into Ms. Squirrel (Lucy Punch), the goody-two-shoes teacher, and Elizabeth’s nemesis. There’s also Russell (Jason Segel), the rough-around-the-edges and out-of-shape gym teacher. Elizabeth likes him, but there’s one big problem. Dude is broke! What is the rude, lazy, entitled, pot-smoking, but super-hot Elizabeth to do? Why, raise money for a boob job, of course! That’ll make Scott want her for sure! I was looking for a holiday rom-com to close the all things blogger year with time-period appropriate content, but I found this movie instead. Glad I gave it a whirl! I haven’t laughed out loud this much in such a long time. Cameron Diaz steals the spotlight with this hilarious anti-heroine. How could someone so unpleasant be so likable at the same time? Diaz accomplishes this in more ways than one. Too bad she never got enough respect from Hollywood. She’s apparently retired from acting, and I wish her the best. Timberlake is also super-funny. That scene where Scott and Elizabeth are “dry-humping” each other — I was in stitches. Such a great dark comedy! Some people say Elizabeth has Histrionic Personality Disorder. I disagree. While she fits the DSM-V criteria, I think she is simply a jerk. Not everyone has a personality disorder. Some people are just jerks, you know? We don’t need to over-analyze everything and everyone, and this is a comedy, one to enjoy. And that I did. Available on Starz. Stream it before it goes away. Downsides? Unlikable characters, but only if that’s not your thing. I can’t think of anything else. Four out of five Gingerbread Lattes!

Bad Teacher was a raunchy comedy featuring Cameron Diaz as Elizabeth Halsey a woman who takes up teaching simply for the paycheck. She ends up falling for a wealthy substitute teacher named Scott (Justin Timberlake) but also finds out about a contest involving testing that could win her a large amount of cash for a breast job she wants. She transforms into an educator from hell pushing her students to their limits when before she would usually put on a video and went to sleep. Along the way she learns that she can actually teach, that she can help kids, and that money isn’t everything. In the end, it’s about redemption with a lot of sex jokes and juvenile humor. The supporting characters are actually much better than Diaz. Jason Segel as Russell who is the PE teacher likes Halsey but is constantly gets rebuffed. He deals with his rejection by making wisecracks. There’s Ms. Lynn Davies (Phyllis Smith) who plays the bumbling teacher and Ms. Squirrel (Lucy Punch) who is the consummate teacher and wins over Scott which completely disgusts Halsey. She’s constantly plotting ways to get Scott and thwart Squirrel to hilarious results. C

BadTeacher is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and I could see it becoming a cult classic, because it is so outrageous, and quotable. I don't want to get into a long review, just make this short and sweet. This is an outrageous comedy as I said before. So don't get all worked up when things are unrealistic. The supporting cast is strong. Well cast movie. All the characters are funny in their own way. I found myself rooting for Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz) because as bad as she is, in her own way, her nemesis, fellow teacher Amy Squirrel (Lucy Punch) is quite hateful to Elizabeth just for the sake of being mean, and she thinks she is GOD'S GIFT TO TEACHING, FULL OF HERSELF. The main plot of the movie, and what moves things along, is Elizabeth is trying to get enough money for breast augmentation and will stop at nothing. She does have one redeeming quality and you might not realize until the end of the movie. She is good at counseling people in her own abrupt way, whether it be a student in love with a girl that hates him: "look, I can't keep sugar coating this for you", and she lays it on the line, and encouraging Lynn her fellow teacher to have the courage to talk to some cowboys in a bar. She does seem to grow up a little in the movie, but it's a WILD RIDE GETTING THERE!!! Also, this is one of those movies, the more you watch it, the funnier it is. So much for short and sweet! Oh, and I must make special mention of the principal,played by John Michael Higgins, what an excellent comedic actor. He has been in the mockumentaries of Christopher Guest. which are improv, Two of my faves "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind"
