Paedophile dad shares images of his naked daughters in child abuse chatroom online
The NSPCC described the case as profoundly disturbing and said it shows the need for tighter control of the internet and the tech companies which host chat sites
A paedophile shared pictures of his partially naked daughters onto sinister online chatrooms and exchanged them for other abusive images.
The 38-year-old man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, photographed both his nine and 14-year-old daughters when they were sleeping, pulling back the bedclothes to show their underwear or naked private parts.
He also exchanged images of the younger girl’s knickers, swimwear and clothing onto two chat sites and asked for indecent images of children in return.
The police were able to catch the pervert, from Devon, because officers infiltrated the chat groups on two media platforms and saw the images he had sent from his phone.
They alerted child protection teams at Devon and Cornwall police who were able to find the man by tracing a play park in Exeter where some of the less explicit images were taken.
Police checked all those in the area until they found the one in the pictures. The images were time and date marked with enabled detective to find CCTV from the exact time and see the father and his daughter.
They raided his home and were able to compare furnishings and wallpaper with the background in the photographs.
The man was jailed for 15 months, suspended for two years at Exeter Crown Court, after he admitted production, possession and making and distributing of indecent images of children.
The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) described the case as profoundly disturbing and said it shows the need for tighter control of the internet and the tech companies which host chat sites.
A spokesperson for the NSPCC in the South West of England said: “It is profoundly disturbing that a father would use images of his daughter as part of the appalling online trade of indecent images.
“It is vital that everything possible is done by tech firms to prevent this material being shared online. We hope his victims now receive the appropriate support to help them recover from their ordeal.”
The man was put on the sex offenders’ register and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years. The prevention order forbids any unsupervised contact with girl and enables the police to monitor his use of the internet.
He was also put on a sex offenders treatment course.
During sentencing, the judge said: “The very serious aggravating factor in this case is that the victims were your own children. There was an extremely serious breach of trust by a father to his children.
“You told the police you were protecting your family but you were doing precisely the opposite. You were exploiting your children and not protecting them at all.”
Miss Felicity Payne, prosecuting, said undercover officers at the National Crime Agency detected a man who was discussing child abuse and exchanging images in two chatrooms in November 2019.
He used aliases including Devonmad2021 on the Wicca and Discord sites but at that stage police could not trace the mobile phone which was sending the images.
They asked for help from police in Devon and he was traced because a trampoline park in the background of some of his images was identified.
Miss Payne said: “His identification can be put down to good old-fashioned police work, investigating the images and finding the location of a trampoline park where they were taken.
“The CCTV was viewed and he was identified from the date and time when his photographs were taken. Police went to his hoe address and seized his Samsung phone.
“The inside of the property was compared to other photographs and matched those distributed online in terms of the wallpaper and other characteristics.
“Officers were also able to compare the young girl with the images, even though her head had been cropped out in and it was confirmed it was his own nine-year-old daughter. Items of clothing also confirmed he had taken the images.”
There were a total of 90 images on his phone, including 32 of his daughters. He had shared seven of these online including one showing her private parts which was taken when she was sleeping.
The father told police he felt pressured to take and send the images by other members of the online groups and feared his phone would be hacked if he did not comply. He said he felt very protective towards his daughter.
Mr Will Parkhill, said his client had lost his marriage, his family, his home and his taxi driving job as a result of his actions and is desperate to address the underlying cause of his offending.
He said the man had been assessed as having learning difficulties and special needs at school and had received extra support as an adult.
He said: “This was a man who did not really understand what he got himself into, other than knowing it was very wrong.”

A mum has questioned a dad's decision to get changed in front of his daughters in a swimming pool's changing room.
She described the man's behaviour as "bizarre" after he "drops his pants and is stark naked in front of his daughters", with the mum adding that he was also standing by the door so would be in full view of anyone else walking in.
On a post on Mumsnet, the horrified mother explains that she went to wait in the changing area after turning up at the wrong time for her son's swimming lesson, where the man was changing with his daughters after they had been swimming, reports the Mirror .
She said the man remained naked as he dried himself, with the mum adding there were cubicles available and he could also have used a towel to cover himself up.
She said: "Why would an adult choose to get naked in a dressing room at a swim lesson for children with strangers around?

"Am I being unreasonable to find it bizarre?

"His bum was also hairy and unattractive."
Others initially supported her concerns, replying to the post on Mumsnet to say they would also feel uncomfortable if a man was getting changed in front of women and children in a unisex changing area.

The the mum then added the detail to the story that she had in fact gone to wait in the men's changing rooms as 'the women's is usually crowded'.

She said: "I'm not fussed about nakedness, I just thought in that situation a towel would have been appropriate. I also get the inability to watch kids from a cubicle. But a towel?

"Also yes, if you entered with your child you would have both walked into an adult man's penis.
"There is no corner so it's door open and hello outside."
The addition to the story left the forum baffled, with one replying: "Wait so you were a woman going into a men's changing room and upset there was a penis there?
"I'm guessing if a man had come into the women's changing room because it was less busy there would have been uproar!"
A second said: "You're a female in the men's changing rooms. You're in the wrong here."
Others still agreed with the woman that the man had been inappropriate, with one arguing: "No, if you might be seen by other children (or in my apparently very repressed family, even your own), you don't just let everything hang out.
"You make a concerted effort to not inflict the sight of your naked body on other (non-consenting) people, whatever their ages."
