Hey guys. Apologies for the very long post, but I feel as if this needs to be said.
I'm sure everyone remembers that really awesome, amazingly well made Jake English cosplay that was circulating around for a while? Their url is whatevachild.
These are some of the answered asks on their page. I noticed that some people were receiving really rude answers, and I felt as if I should say something. This cosplayer believes that if you aren't perfect, then you're a shitty cosplayer.
The very last two pictures are the responses I received to my asks to them. I honestly respected them as a cosplayer, and strived to make my cosplays as well as them one day. Now, I know I'm no professional, and I'm not some type of cosplay god, but I put a LOT of work into my cosplays. I spend a lot of money and time on them....but APPARENTLY, I will never be able to be as good as this person. I simply tried to be polite and let them know that maybe they should be a little less rude towards maybe not-so-amazing cosplayers, and this was the answer I got.
My point is, you can be an amazing cosplayer, and you can have your opinions, but there's no need to make other people feel like shit because of a damn hobby . Feel free to take cosplay as seriously as you wish, but once you become a prick towards other people because their cosplay doesn't live up to your own expectations, you become a pretty awful cosplayer.

Wowwwwwwww, yeah, lets make fun of stuff younger fans or beginners make!!!!! Who cares about how they feel after they see their work being made fun of!!!!
There is really no excuse for it. I don’t care how funny or edgy you feel you are. “Owning up” for it or “at least admitting I’m an asshole” doesn’t make you cooler or any more better.
There is no reason to ever make fun of someone’s art or cosplays, and these blogs usually target the most vulnerable artists/cosplayers, as they tend to be younger ones or ones that are beginners.
Do you honestly think this is going to help anyone grow and improve?
It may have helped you in the past or w/e but WOW guess WHAT? Most people aren’t like that.

Welllllllll....yeah you might have a point. Just kidding, shut up. Are you really justifying hurting people? This line of thinking is toxic. If someone is upset directly from you making fun of them, it’s kinda your fault, not theirs? And no, they don’t need to take your bullshit. Nobody has to take your bullshit.
And no, I’m not “butthurt” or whatever stupid term you can conjure from an edgy preteen’s Deviantart page from 2009. If my art or cosplay has ever been featured on this type of blog, I’m completely unaware. I just don’t like seeing other people being treated like garbage?
And yes, this is bullying. I met a few hypocrites on here who reblog “omg bullying is BAD reblog this btw if you’re against it and im judging you if scroll” yet they actively run or support these types of blogs.
