My experience at Homewood has been nothing but the best! I was raised in Homewood and went to Homewood City Schools for the majority of my life. The teachers at Homewood want nothing but the best for their students. They go the long mile to provide an environment of learning that enables students to be individuals of their own. Homewood is a family oriented community. They strive to do their best to keep the community going. The community has fundraisers, events, and foundations to give back to the city. As a senior in college finishing up my last semester, I appreciate the people who have raised and helped me achieve my overall success!

It's basically Suburbia/Pleasantville. Good for raising kids and very close to Birmingham, but also quite conservative and known for hiding any corruption within its systems, especially at the schools. More diverse than surrounding neighborhoods like Mountain Brook and has a lot of great restaurants and shopping options, however, it's still expensive and clearly gentrified. I'm glad to be privileged enough to spend my childhood here, but after college, I'm never living here again.

My thoughts on Homewood:

* If you're looking to locate to the BHM area, I would put Homewood at the top of your list. It's close to everything and the schools are good relative to other options in the metro area. The housing stock is a mixed bag, but you can find something nice. We have a historic house on a 0.5 acre lot, which is nice considering proximity to city.

* No kids in school so I'll just repeat that the schools are highly ranked.

* Homewood's location is very good. After living in some major US metros prior to here, I found living here to be quite easy. We face almost no traffic and everything seems close by. This is the aspect of Homewood that really stands out as a positive to me, especially for folks moving from other major metros.

* If a 5 star rating means one of the best towns in America, then Homewood is 3 stars. Yes we have some nice things, but this is still central Alabama. It's delusional to suggest otherwise.
