IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR WATER SYSTEMS BEFORE REOPENING YOUR BUSINESS
If your business has been closed for an extended amount of time, you’ll want to make sure you flush its water system before reopening. This simple tip may help to avoid any issues once you’re back in business.
Water stagnation for a few months can lead to elevated lead, copper, and Legionella levels, as well as discolored water. And the stagnant water in internal plumbing systems can become not only smelly, but also develop a metallic taste.
Suggestions are to first flush cold-water lines, followed by hot-water lines. Business owners should also discard of all ice from ice machines, as well as flush, and disinfect the ice machines. You should also run dishwashers while empty, replace point-of-use water filters, and clean water fixtures, such as faucets and showerheads. And, don’t forget to flush the hot water heater as well.
Business leaders should also view guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for how to safely manage a building’s water system and devices after a prolonged shutdown. And also call a plumber if you want to be extra certain that you know all you need to do.

Gonzales is known as the “Jambalaya Capital of the World,” it is famous for its annual Jambalaya Festival, which was first held in 1968. Stephen “Steve” F. Juneau came up with the idea for the Jambalaya Festival and served as the first president of the Jambalaya Festival Association.
Our area is home to some of the South’s most interesting and beautiful tourist attractions, many steeped in our rich history. There are no fewer than a dozen antebellum homes within a short drive, numerous restaurants all featuring original cuisine and boutique shops along with an outlet mall.
So, if you’re looking for “a great escape,” or wanting to relocate, we’re sure you’ll agree when we say, “Gonzales, Nous avons tout!”
