Carson City has a wonderful small town vibe. Downtown is home to the state capitol and many small businesses. Some of the best food you will find is in downtown Carson! Carson City is the perfect town to access multiple different hiking/walking/biking trails. The mountains are all around you. There is the perfect amount of snow in the winter; not too much and not too little. There are four seasons to enjoy as well. Lake Tahoe is about 1 hour away and is incredibly beautiful. The biggest little city, Reno, is only 30 minutes away for all of your city needs.

My review of Carson City is not current but I'd still like to give it. I lived there from 1972 to 19 78. Age 14 to 20. I was from Los Angeles so it was my first introduction to anything like country life. I had some great times there ,learned my trade which took me all over the country and now I live in Hawaii . As others have said here the people I remember as being very friendly. I still have beloved friends from there.my landlord here in Hawaii was actually a teacher at Carson City high School High School. I know it's grown a lot but I'm sure it's still far better than a lot of places!

Carson City is not for everyone. It's cute, quaint, and for the most part, quiet. Its convenient location a mere 30 minutes from the sands of South Lake tahoe, and its relatively small community make it ideal for senior citizens, retirees, and anyone else just looking to "take things slow".
If, however, you're a young, single, mid-twenties millennial looking to meet people and make memories, you might consider stepping back into your car, and driving thirty minutes up the road the nearest approximation to a city, Reno. There you'll find more than one bar open past 10, a sit-down, italian restaurant that's not Olive Garden, and enough space that you can safely shop at a different store than the one the people you work go to.
In short, if you're at the age where you "dinner time" means no later than 5:30pm, Carson City is for you!
If you're more likely to have breakfast at 2am while partially inebriated, keep your foot on the gas and head to Reno.
