East End residents, organizers work toward bikeability in Second Ward

My experience in Baytown is one full of amazing highs. I've lived in Baytown my whole life and am now 18. Let's just start with our community involvement, there are countless numbers of organizations, sports leagues, and fun things to do around town. It all really starts with our towns little league baseball program. I feel like this brings our town together and gives us something to rally around every year. Outside of that, our town is surrounded by the industrial scene. Everywhere you look there are chemical plants, and this offers so many job opportunities. Especially for students like me who are enrolled in the STEM academy at Lee High School. There's not much more you could ask for if that's the career path you want to look towards. Baytown has countless number of things for people to enjoy and do to have fun. Showbiz cinema's, Maxbowl Bowling Alley, Pirates Bay Waterpark, etc. All around our town provides a good community, great diversity of people, and is a great place to live!

I have been living in Baytown for almost 5 years and I am impressed with its economic growth and community expansion. The mall is currently under reconstruction and will open Phase 1 in December of 2019, just in time for the holidays. The city has been working really hard with repairs, additions and reconstruction of roads, signs and neighborhood sidewalks to give Baytown an upgrade. Recently, the school district passed a new bond that will add additional schools to help with the growth of the community and demand, as well as expansion and additions to the current schools. Business is booming and will continue with the additions of 30+ restaurants coming to the area upon completion of the new San Jacinto Marketplace and residential areas are on the rise with the new master planned communities already taking place.

Baytown is, well, Baytown. The Baytown mall (San Jacinto Mall) is TERRIBLE and needs to be torn down for someone else to build on. The nearest quality mall is 40 minutes away, it's a shame for all the people living in the Baytown area. On top this, traffic is usually not so great and crime is usually always happening. I always lock my car doors, but you should always double check to make sure you did indeed lock them in Baytown. Most food options available are fast food, with a few exceptions, and lately some healthier, better options have been popping up in town. To truly know what Baytown is like, come to Baytown and feel for yourself...then go to the Clear Lake area for something much better!
