Yet again, we post this with very heavy hearts on the loss of another Backstage team member. Our good friend and audio tech Keith White ("K-Dub") recently passed. Our prayers go out to his family and friends. We will dearly miss the talent and spirit of Keith in the Atlanta music and production community. (Keith is wearing the hat and standing directly behind radio star Kaedy Kiley in this photo).

Its with extreme heavy hearts that we share that Backstage ATL lost a very close friend and camera man. JB was a huge asset to the technical team and dear friend, especially to Robby Heisner, our director and co-producer. We are gonna miss him deeply. Thoughts and prayers are with JB's family.

New album Goody 2 Shoes & The Filthy Beast scheduled for release in spring 2015
First single due out in December 2014
The rock legend is back: American funk rock sensation Mother’s Finest have signed a European recording deal with Steamhammer/SPV and are set to unleash their latest studio album Goody 2 Shoes & The Filthy Beast in spring 2015. This will be the band’s first studio recording since their 2003 release Meta-Funk’n-Physical. Mother’s Finest are ready to introduce the first single from their new album as early as December 2014. The current line-up includes vocalists Joyce Kennedy and Glenn Murdock, bassist Wyzard and guitarist Moses Mo, all four original members of the first line-up dating back to 1970. Guitarist John Hayes and drummer Dion Derek have proved to complement Mother’s Finest perfectly since their comeback in 1989.
The group achieved their international breakthrough with a spectacular TV appearance at one of the legendary Rockpalast concerts promoted by German TV station WDR in March 1978, when Joyce Kennedy’s awesome performance and the band’s red hot hits such as ‘Mickey’s Monkey’, ‘Baby Love’ and ‘Give You All The Love’ wowed millions of TV viewers, making the band famous practically over night.
Steamhammer/SPV are of course delighted with the latest addition to their roster. A&R manager Olly Hahn: “For two years I’ve been trying to get this band and now it’s finally happened: Mother’s Finest are on Steamhammer/SPV. When I heard the album Iron Age in 1981, I was totally blown away by their power. And when you hear and see them now, nothing has changed. The new album will be their first in 12 years, so expect an exciting ride between rock and funk that you haven’t heard in years!”
Vocalist Joyce Kennedy is also looking forward to a promising collaboration: “After almost two years, Mothers Finest takes pride to announce our association with SPV/Steamhammer as our record label, and expect a long, successful, prosperous relationship. We as a band with our own identity believe that SPV/Steamhammer supports the music as much as the trend. Mothers Finest and SPV/Steamhammer, the perfect fit. Are You Ready To Rock?”

Band: Hey, I got an idea! Lets get some floor tom drums and put them next to us at the front of the stage. And after the guitar solo, lets all play the same cool drum beat...since we all know how to play drums too. Coach: Great idea. No has done that gimmick in.........hours. Its as original as wearing a Sinatra hat to sing R&B, or putting your foot up on the monitor speaker to look cool. Be creative. Be different. Be unique.
