The parents of the baby who was hit were notified about what happened, and they also received a copy of the report. I never got to talk to them in person but they had all of their babies items we keep at the centre packed up and they were gone when i started in my room at 9 am.

Congratulate them for making up and reiterate to both children that hitting isn't an appropriate way of solving problems or getting their emotions out, even if someone makes them angry. If an Adult Hurts Your Child It's hard to imagine a teacher and an institution you entrust your child's safety to on an almost daily basis hurting them.
