Bredbury is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, 8 miles (12.9 km) south-east of Manchester, 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Stockport and 3 miles (4.8 km) south-west of Hyde. The Bredbury and Woodley built up area (as defined by the Office for National Statistics) had a population of 17,040 at the 2021 census. Bredbury is on the lower southern slopes of Werneth Low, an outlier of the Pennines; it lies between the valleys of the River Tame and River Goyt, head-waters of the River Mersey.

Bredbury and Woodley is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. It elects three Councillors to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth. The ward is located in the east of Stockport, and is bordered by Bredbury Green & Romiley, and Brinnington & Central wards. Together with Bredbury Green and Romiley, Hazel Grove, Marple North, Marple South and Offerton it constitutes the Hazel Grove Parliamentary constituency. The ward has two train stations both Bredbury Station and Woodley, offering regular services to Manchester.

The 2015 Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections and the UK General Election. Stockport Council is elected in thirds which means that in each three member local ward, one councillor is elected every year, except every four years which is classed as fallow year. The last fallow year was 2013, when no local government elections took place in the borough. Those councillors elected with serve a four-year term expiring in 2019. Following the elections, the Lib Dem minority administration was able to continue in office.
