Paris prosecutors' cybercrime unit, supported by Europol, conducted searches at X's French offices today as part of an ongoing investigation into the platform.The probe, initiated in January 2025 over alleged algorithmic manipulation, has been expanded to examine content recommended by X's algorithm and outputs from its AI chatbot Grok.
Authorities are investigating suspected complicity in offenses including the spread of child sexual abuse material, sexually explicit deepfakes, Holocaust denial (a crime in France), and related violations.
Elon Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarino have been summoned for voluntary interviews in April, with X employees also called as witnesses.
X has denied wrongdoing and described the actions as politically motivated.
The Paris prosecutor's office stated the investigation adopts a "constructive approach" to ensure X complies with French law.
