BLOCKCHAIN ECONOMIC FORUM 2018
Vladyslav AntonovForbes: "500 Entrepreneurs, VCs, bankers, brilliant coders, a couple of dozen visionaries"
We were able to talk to the organizer of the Blockchain Economic Forum - Valentin Preobrazhenskiy, Chairman of the Organizing Committee Blockchain Economic Forum and Founder at LAToken .
Could you tell us more about yourself and your experience in organizing events of this kind?
For more than 10 years, I worked in investment companies and hedge funds where I managed a portfolio worth $200 millions, and I created a back office for one of them and later launched a profitable mortgage platform, Zalogo. Several years ago, I got interested in the blockchain technology and I arrived at the idea of creating a new-generation exchange, at which you could buy and sell various classes of assets – from securities to shares in real estate and art works – for cryptocurrency.
I should say that I came up with the idea, to a large extent, thanks to meetups of the Founders&Developers community, which I founded as a meeting point for hundreds of entrepreneurs to discuss cutting-edge technologies.
These days, LAToken also runs weekly meetups for the best developers, ChainDev. And in late 2017, we organized one of the most prominent international blockchain events, the first Blockchain Economic Forum.
Why was Singapore chosen as the venue this time?
Singapore is Asia's financial capital, and Asia is a very important region for the crypto industry. The largest exchanges, numerous investors and projects are located here. LAToken also plans to step up its presence in the Asian market, and the forum will help us to speed up the search for partners, opening offices, to understand the process of obtaining required licenses etc.
How many attendees do you expect and what's their profile?
We're expecting more than 1,000 attendees. They will be leaders of the blockchain community from all over the world, investors, entrepreneurs, representatives of crypto exchanges, journalists and developers. Speakers of our previous forum in New York pointed out the very high quality of the audience, deeply knowledgeable about blockchain issues. (https://youtu.be/dZlfgB5XgOA)
Tell us, in what way this event is different from many others that are run all over the world?
We're gathering more than 100 speakers who are currently the best in their fields. This time, even Mexico's ex-president Vincente Fox is joining BEF. The forum's agenda will be very current, featuring all major topics for the crypto industry – from reasons for failures and successes of ICOs to the impact of blockchain on the global economy and the role of regulators.
In addition, BEF is offering unique networking opportunities. According to Forbes, BEF2017 is the greatest place to meet leaders of the blockchain industry (https://www.forbes.com/sites/marshallbrown/2017/11/16/will-blockchain-unchain-the-world/#3a0e07bc224f)
In Singapore, we are using the proven successful format, but making the event even more prominent.
Tell us about the speakers. What determined the choice, and who are worth paying special attention to? It's especially interesting to know what to expect from Mexico's ex-president.
As speakers, we chose opinion leaders who have something to say on the most current issues of the crypto world. For instance, ex-president Fox will be talking about his experience of reforming the country and about challenges that people who are trying to change a system are facing. Among other speakers, I could single out Kango Kim, co-founder of one of Korea's largest crypto exchanges, Korbit, Reese Jones, Associate founder of Singularity University and advisor to Facebook, Jean Claude Donato, Partner in Nikaia Ventures, with a $1 billion in deals in 2017, Ralf Glabischnig, co-founder of Crypto Valley Association, Miko Matsumura, founder of Evercoin exchange, and Renu Bhatia, Investor, 5x.
Regulatory policies in various jurisdictions will be a major topic in 2018. How is it going to be covered?
Certainly, special attention will be paid to the role of regulators. A series of round tables will be devoted to it, including one titled " Regulation of Cryptocurrency Trends from Asia to the America", focused on risks of new crypto bans in various countries and their possible impacts.
Is there going to be a live stream of the event?
Yes, the Livestream of BEF2018 will be available for the entire three days of the events. Follow our updates on Telegram channel:
We can't avoid speaking about LAToken itself. How is the company developing and how successfully is it moving on the road map?
Last year, we completed a token sale, raising nearly $20 million (at 270 USD/ETH rate) from 17,000 contributions based all over the world. Today, we're running a trading platform for crypto currencies and tokens of promising ICOs.
Our token is already listed on the largest crypto exchanges, including OKEX (Top 5), HitBTC (Top 10) and KuCoin (Top 20).
In January, LAToken's capitalization reached $150 million, with LA token price hitting $1.95 (compared to the token sale price of $0.3–0.5) and daily trading volume reaching $2.5 million.
In the short term, the company plans to open offices in Korea, USA, Japan and EU.
In 2018–2019, LAToken plans to launch the first decentralized exchange based on graphchain technology (DAG) that can handle up to 100,000 transactions per second.
The company also plans to scale trading of tokens linked to prices of real assets, launch P2P trading of tokens, and create a crypto/fiat gateway.
Our goal is to expand our trading and enter Top-20 crypto exchanges by volume.
