The British Columbia Lottery Company paid another big jackpot last week, announcing a huge windfall for Scratch & Win. According to BCLC, Surrey resident William Goliger won an impressive CA$675,000 victory in Set for Life. The winner is still shocked by the win and is now looking for a way to use it.

Set for Life is a Canadian national Scratch & Win game that is quite popular among lottery enthusiasts. Winners can choose between a regular pension of $1,000 per week for 25 years and a lump sum of $675,000. In the case of Mr. Goliger, he chose a lump sum payment.

The Surrey resident arrived at the BCLC office in Vancouver last week to claim his CA$675k check and share some behind-the-scenes stories about the win. He explained that it was an impulsive decision to buy tickets at the Real Canada Superstore on King George Highway and 76 Avenue. He remembers being numb when he saw that he had received an amazing prize money.

After that, he waited a few days for the news to settle and took the ticket to a licensed lottery store. His wife went with him because she wanted to see for herself whether the statue was real. Now, Mr. Goliger plans to use the payment to help his family, but he will take some time on what to do next. They plan to celebrate the windfall by serving a nice dinner.

Despite already paying the prize money to the BCLC's Vancouver executive, the winner said the prize money was still a shock to him and the feeling had not yet completely subsided. In addition, the winner said that with the help of the newly discovered money, they will be able to do whatever they want to do next. The big winners of the lottery usually consider early retirement, but in time they will inform Mr. Goliger.

According to Crown, B.C.'s players have already won several amazing awards at Set for Life Scratch & Win in 2023. Currently, their winnings exceed CA$5 million, potentially with more winning tickets coming out. BCLC's information indicates that someone has one in 508,333 chance to hit the jackpot.

Mr. Goliger is not the only British Columbia to win Set for Life in the last few months. In March, BCLC reported that Salmon Arm resident Murray Wallace also triggered a CA$675k jackpot in the game. Mr. Wallace bought a winning ticket while stopping by the BVD truck stop on the Kokani Way past Camroups.

In the summer of 2022, Atlantic Canada also had a significant win in Set for Life, with Timothy Lewis of Kentville, Nova Scotia, earning CA$675,000. Mr. Lewis, the Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 Lotto, thought he was going to try something different, and it paid off. After initially winning CA$4 and CA$8, he continued to play and eventually gave him a life-changing award.
