BB Contest Rules - 15.04.25
1. General InformationBB (Bots.Business) organizes development contests to foster innovation and engagement among administrators, showcasing the capabilities of various development technologies.
- Contests may be held monthly, less frequently, or more frequently, at the discretion of the administration.
- The administration may cancel or postpone a contest if there are too few participants or if the submissions do not meet the minimum quality standards.
- These rules apply to all current and future contests and may be modified as necessary.
- All relevant contest dates will be announced in the official BB channel.
- Each contest will have a predefined theme and technology, which will be specified in the official BB channel before the contest begins.
- Winners will be selected by the BB team based on the criteria outlined below.
Expert and Sponsor Participation
- The administration may invite experts to assist with the judging process to expedite evaluations. Experts may conduct preliminary judging, provide recommendations, and assist in organizing the contest. However, experts will not evaluate their own submissions if they choose to participate.
- Contests may be sponsored by external parties. Sponsors may participate in the judging process, modify certain rules, and introduce additional award categories. Sponsors cannot participate as contestants.
2. Eligibility
- The contest is open to all registered users of the BB platform (Participants).
- Participation is free of charge.
- Each participant may submit multiple entries but can only win one prize (the highest-ranked submission).
3. Submission Requirements
- Participants may use third-party libraries and frameworks as long as they comply with open-source licensing and do not infringe on third-party rights. Any external dependencies must be clearly documented in the README.md file.
- The submission must be created using the technology specified for the contest, which will be announced in the BB channel before the competition begins.
- The submission’s source code must be:Published on GitHub with public access.
- Accompanied by a README.md file detailing the submission’s purpose, features, and setup instructions.
- Participants may submit:Unique submissions (built from scratch).
- Modified submissions (existing demo submissions from the BB contest archive, improved or repurposed).
- The submission must demonstrate functionality and meet at least one of the following criteria:Utility: Automation tools, admin assistants, task managers, etc.
- Creativity: Games, interactive features, educational or entertainment applications, etc.
- The submission must be free of critical bugs and work as intended.
- The submission must be easy to review by the judging panel. If the submission includes an admin interface, it should be designed in a way that allows judges to test it with minimal effort. Participants should ensure that accessing and evaluating the submission’s features does not require complex setup or extensive additional actions.
4. How to Participate
- The link to the application form will be published in the official BB channel.
- Participants must provide the following details:Their email and BB platform username.
- Submission name.
- GitHub repository link.
- Description of the submission and its functionality.
- Submission deadlines for each contest will be announced in the official BB channel. Late or incorrectly submitted entries will not be considered.
5. Judging Criteria
a. The contest organizers reserve the right to revise the evaluation criteria if required by:
- the specific format of the contest,
- the introduction of new themes or contest types.
While the organizers will strive to ensure the evaluation process is as transparent and fair as possible, complete objectivity cannot be guaranteed.
b. Submissions will be evaluated by the BB Team based on the following factors:
- Relevance to Contest: The submission must align with the theme and objectives of the specific contest.
- Innovation: Originality and creativity of the idea.
- Execution Quality: Code quality, absence of bugs, and optimization.
- Usefulness: Practicality and real-world application.
- Complexity: Depth of functionality and technical skill demonstrated.
- Creativity: Engaging features or unique design.
Judging Process
- Judges may evaluate entries by voting, assigning scores, or using a combination of both methods.
- The administration aims to ensure an open and objective judging process but acknowledges that evaluation errors may occur.
Note: The judges’ decision is final and cannot be appealed.
6. Prizes
- The prize pool for each contest will be announced in the official BB channel.
- Prizes will be awarded within 14 days after the winners are announced.
- Winning submissions may be featured in the BB contest archive and promoted as examples at BB’s discretion (without requiring the winner’s consent).
7. Intellectual Property, Public Access, and Reuse
- Submissions may be removed under special circumstances, such as if they violate copyright laws, contain security vulnerabilities, or infringe on third-party intellectual property rights. The administration reserves the right to evaluate and approve such removal requests.
- By submitting an entry, participants agree to license their work under the MIT License, allowing BB and others to freely use, modify, distribute, and commercialize it. BB does not claim exclusive ownership of the submissions but retains the right to store and promote them at its discretion.
- The names of winners will be announced in the official BB channel, but BB is not required to credit participants in any use of their work.
- BB may choose to display the author’s name when showcasing the submission, but this is at the administration’s discretion and not mandatory.
- The administration copies and stores all submitted GitHub repositories. Once submitted, removal from BB's repository is generally not possible, except in cases where the submission violates copyright laws, contains security vulnerabilities, or has other serious issues subject to BB administration approval.
- A participant may delete their submission from their own GitHub repository, but the copy stored by BB will remain accessible.
- Any attribution to the original author in the submission will be preserved in BB’s repository if it was originally included by the participant.
- A participant may request the removal of their submission before the winners are announced, thereby withdrawing from the contest and forfeiting their rights to the prize.
- If a submission has already been published publicly on GitHub, the participant should understand that the code may have already been shared online, and BB is not responsible for its further distribution.
- The final decision on whether a submission remains accessible in BB's repository lies solely with the administration.
- Participants retain the right to use, modify, and develop their submissions in other projects, including commercial and open-source applications.
8. Additional Terms
By participating in the contest, participants agree to:
- The public use of their submission as a demo by BB.
- Compliance with all contest rules.
The organizer reserves the right to:
- Modify contest rules at any time.
- Disqualify participants for rule violations or infringement of third-party rights.
9. Resubmission of Projects
- Participants may refine and resubmit a project in future contests.
- However, the administration reserves the right to reject a resubmitted project if it determines that the changes are minor or insignificant.
- Participants cannot receive a preliminary opinion from the judges or administration regarding whether their changes are sufficient before submitting to a new contest.
- The use of a previous contest submission by another participant also qualifies as a resubmission and will be subject to the same evaluation criteria.
10. Responsibility and Self-Assessment Clause ⚠️
Participation in the contest is voluntary. The organizers are not responsible for the physical or emotional state of participants, nor for any consequences arising from their participation — including but not limited to fatigue, sleep deprivation, stress, or personal or technical difficulties.
Each participant is responsible for assessing their own ability to safely and effectively take part in the contest. If a participant has health issues, time constraints, or other factors that may interfere — they should refrain from participating.
If such issues arise during the contest, the participant is responsible for withdrawing on their own initiative.
As the contest is conducted remotely, the organizers have no control over participants’ circumstances, and full responsibility lies with the participant.
