🔳 B. Thom Stevenson (born in 1985) is a Worcester-based artist.

B. Thom Stevenson lives and works in Worcester, Massachusetts. In his practice, the artist creates a unique subcultural glossary, blending symbols, attributes, and iconography into one piece - telling a story about the intersections, changes, and evolution of artifacts, as well as their overall imagery.

REBEL FROG (I'M NO ONE'S PUPPET) (BLUE) / 2020 / 3 COLOR HANDPRINTED SILKCSREEN PRINT ON 350 GSM FEDRIGONI CENTURY COTTON WOVE PAPER / 70 X 50 CM

The symbols in the artist's work boil down to bold signs that reflect B. Thom's close connection with the main theme of his art - his deep dive into the subject allows him to craft a concise language and a clear, almost dogmatic artistic program.

SURVIVAL / 2019 / ACRYLIC, ENAMEL AND WATERCOLOR ON COLD PRESSED COTTON PAPER IN OAK FRAME WITH TRUE COLOR GLASS / 55 X 45 CM

He uses graphic materials and creates reproducible works - tools that showcase a perspective on culture not from the outside looking in, but from within, pulling it out into the open. This isn’t the viewpoint of a researcher; it’s the perspective of someone who’s part of the scene. Yet instead of getting locked into one countercultural group, the artist skillfully navigates through a transcultural space.

PENTAGON / 2019 / ACRYLIC AND ENAMEL ON COLD PRESSED COTTON PAPER IN OAK FRAME WITH TRUE COLOR GLASS / 55 X 45 CM

The artist’s style is free-flowing, with colors that are straightforward. His works are like a vast playground for experimentation where the fear of making mistakes takes a backseat. We’re not looking at meticulous canvases painted with delicate glazes; instead, we see bold, confident statements that are memorable and stunning in their imperfection.

GIMME MOORE / 2020 / ACRYLIC AND ENAMEL ON RAW CANVAS / 152.5 X 152.5 CM

B. Thom Stevenson’s studio is a space of constant growth and vitality - a place that transforms the artist’s visions into paintings or turns blank canvases into vibrant artworks.
