Axios: Trump considers seizing Iran's Kharq Island

Trump is exploring the possibility of seizing a key Iranian oil terminal on Kharq Island. According to the newspaper, this step is seen as a way to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, which is still under Iranian control.

Sources told Axios that Trump likes the idea. According to them, he believes that the seizure of Kharq Island would be an "economic knockout of the regime," effectively depriving Tehran of its main financial income.

However, as noted by Axios, such an operation would require the deployment of American troops and could provoke retaliatory strikes by Iran against the oil infrastructure of the Persian Gulf countries, primarily Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, another source told the publication that the US president has not yet made a decision.

"There are big risks. There are great benefits. The president has not made a decision yet, and we are not saying that he will definitely make it," the source said.
