A PLACE in the Sun's presenter was left cringing after a couple had an awkward row as they raged 'it's my apartment NOT yours!'
Wednesday's edition of the Channel 4 show saw presenter Scarlette Douglas show house hunter Donagh around Valencia in Spain in search of his dream property.
Donagh was joined by his best friend Amy for moral support, but one awkward moment saw his bestie chip in a little too much when it came to what the property specifications needed to be.
Scarlette asked Donagh: “So what exactly are you looking for from a property here then?”
He replied: “Somewhere where I can really live outside. I want a big terrace.
“A nice kitchen and at least two bedrooms. I need at least one spare bedroom for friends and family.”
Amy then chipped in, saying: “Preferably with an en-suite.”
As Donagh let out a big sigh, Amy added with a joke, "and a hot tub".
As the trio laughed somewhat awkwardly, Donagh firmly reminded his pal: "It’s my apartment, not yours, alright?”
Scarlette then asked Amy what she would want in the property Donagh chose, and he joked: "She’d want a key!”
Despite the cringe-worthy moment, Amy did offer her friend some sound advice as she said: “I think it’d be sensible to find something that didn’t require too much work.”
In a further twist, the friends then told Scarlette later in the episode that they were going to go 50/50 on a property instead.
After some negotiations over the sale price, Donagh and Amy got a three-bedroom apartment in Valencia for £124,000.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.

When you think of babysitting, you think of something so innocent. After all, going through the hiring process for a babysitter requires you to have a pretty clean record. But that’s not always the case as with everything that comes off as innocent and “clean.”
Parents have admitted a couple of things they have found out their babysitters did and it is safe to say, they weren’t too happy about it. Sometimes, the parents don’t find out at all but others find out and watch the babysitters do the inappropriate things and it’s quite disturbing. It’s even worse when the parents had to find out through TV or online or by someone else. How embarrassing and disappointing.
These days, people surprise us by what they do no matter who they are so perhaps it’s harder now to find a qualified babysitter who will do their job the right way. The job is not that hard either folks, although, it depends on the kids. But either way, the babysitter should have manners and act appropriately like a good nanny is supposed to.
We rounded up these 13 things babysitters have been caught doing which doesn’t give us much hope. Check out the following for a little entertainment but also some disturbance. Warning.
Well that’s just awkward. Isn’t the point of being a babysitter supposed to include her being present with the kids while the parents aren’t? What’s wrong with these people? The parents expressed how when they came home, they didn’t see him anywhere inside the house. When they went to check how their kids were doing, one 2 years old and the other a 6 month old baby, they were asleep luckily. But that left them to think where in the world is the babysitter? So they had called his parents to find out what happened to him but they said he was nowhere to be found at home either. Eventually, the babysitter came running inside their home and apologized, claiming he was talking to someone outside. Oddly, the parents came from outside earlier and hadn’t seen him. This babysitter was just full of lies but the parents still paid the kid. The next day though, some common sense finally hit the babysitter and him and his dad came to their house to apologize what happened the night before and handed back the money. At least this story ended the right way and no one was hurt.
Either she’s crazy or she was trying out a new hobby and decided to be productive that day while babysitting. Either way, it’s crazy. This babysitter decided to remodel everything inside the house while she was babysitting the kids, according to the parents. They said when they came inside the house, everything was completely reordered and out of its original place. That’s just not normal to do. It wasn’t just a few things here and there, but pretty much the whole house was reorganized. The parents saw how their closets contained different stuff while the kitchen had a bunch of misplaced objects. The father described the whole remodeling “random” and “super creepy.” He has a point. What babysitter would just come in and have the nerve to touch property that doesn’t belong to her? He mentioned how they never called her back but didn’t say if they put everything back in its original order.
This is actually kind of funny. The babysitter decided to have some fun while doing her job when she saw something hysterical at the house. The refrigerator actually had something written on it that was all on the father, not the babysitter. It had “I love good hor*y beaver for fun” in magnetic letters. So of course, the babysitter decided to take a picture of it to possibly share with her friends. However, she wasn’t fast enough because she was caught taking the picture before she got to share it. She did get paid her $50 for the two hours she was there but she wasn’t called back after that. In a way, this was just the babysitter doing what you would’ve most likely done, too. As for the wife of the husband who wrote that, I wonder where she stands with those magnetic letters on the fridge.
It seems like this babysitter wanted some kind of entertainment when the day was just ending but the way she made it happen wasn’t exactly appropriate. One of the girls whom were being taken care of explained how the nanny was doing an okay job until she wanted to become more involved. She explained how she screamed at them to come inside the room and get down because she supposedly saw a man with a mask outside in the front of the house. The girls were both scared to death while one of them couldn’t help but start crying. Suddenly, they heard the door open and the girls were freaking out. But luckily, it was just their parents coming in. Shocked at what they were seeing, the parents asked what was going on since they saw their kids and the babysitters on the floor. After that, the babysitter was never called back.
The usual tale of the nanny getting with one of the parents of the kids. When the mother came home an hour earlier from work after feeling under the weather, she found her husband naked in bed and the babysitter inside the bathroom. By the way, the babysitter was 13 years old. The husband even tried to lie his way out of it as if there was a reasonable way to but he went for it anyways. Obviously, the mother didn’t waste any time and took the babysitter home. She was asking her to forgive her along the way and to not tell her parents. When she arrived back home, the mother then called her parents. Apparently, the babysitter’s parents knew about this all along for about a year and thought that there was a possible future between them. The father got arrested but the whole case never went to trial because the babysitter couldn’t hold herself together to testify. After spending 2 years in prison, his parental rights were terminated and the mother got a restraining order against him. These are one of the most common problems that happen in the babysitting world unfortunately.
Mike Wilde is someone who has taken serious measures in ensuring his family is always safe. He even set up a hidden camera to make sure that if anyone breaks into their home, that he would know about it right away. He also liked the camera for when babysitters came over to help take care of his son. One time Mike's son had mentioned the babysitter acting odd, waking him up and speaking to him in a different language. But there wasn't much Mike could do about it. One day while scrolling through his camera footage, Mike came across something really disturbing. At 1:30 am you can see the babysitter Kyle, wake up from the couch and walk right up to the camera and turn it off. His face looking right into the lens until the screen goes black. At the moment Mike fired the babysitter and decided to only have family help take care of the kids going forward.
While babysitting three daughters, an unfortunate event occurred that shouldn’t have happened. He explained he had been babysitting for quite a while and got called to babysit a regular. He was sick and said if they really needed his help, he would go and babysit. So they said yes and he took the job. He was actually doing his job of a babysitter until later that night. He out them to bed and the kids fell asleep while one of them which was the 5 year old just couldn’t get sleepy. So he took her downstairs while he put a kid friendly movie. But he said due to him being sick, he fell asleep faster than he thought and the kid fell asleep on top of him right after. Somehow, the movie switched to an adult movie and the parents eventually came home only to see their 5-year-old sleeping on top of the babysitter while an adult scene was playing. The babysitter then tried to explain but there was no hope. He said he never got called back again to babysit for them.
High School jocks will always lack smarts. Good thing they’re usually good looking. One time, a popular high school quarterback was called to babysit next door because apparently he was the parents’ go-to, according to their daughter. She said he took the job one night but the night turned out a little more lively than a regular babysitting night. She said she started hearing more noise downstairs and realized that there was full on party going on in her house. The jock-y babysitter thought he was slick and went to his house to call the police making it seem that it was the parents’ responsibility. When they arrived home, the parents found the cops surrounding their house and were immediately questioned about the party. The daughter then explained to the cops what really happened since she was awake throughout the whole thing. The babysitter was eventually caught for throwing that party and of course, was kicked off the parents’ babysitting list.
This babysitter was caught taking one of the daughters to her house while on the job then brought her back home before the mom would get home. Her sister wasn’t clear on why her mother got so upset when she found this out so her mom decided to show what was wrong with the whole picture. They went for a ride, about 10 minutes away from their home, and arrived at the babysitter’s home at a trailer park. There were people smoking blunts, with most of the women pregnant, and just pretty everyone else looking like a wreck. The daughter then understood why her mother got so upset when she found out the babysitter took her other daughter to her house. It’s already wrong enough to even take your child outside of the house without any notice so to bring her into this environment was just the ultimate deal breaker.
I guess the job of babysitting wasn’t entertaining for this nanny. The babysitter was caught exotically dancing in front of her laptop. It turned out she was doing a strip-tease on her laptop camera. It seems pretty typical for a young girl babysitting as her side job but it was still awkward to catch. The parents never called her back although they thought it was pretty hysterical. Luckily, she wasn’t doing it anywhere near the kid or was disturbing him in any way. She was just trying to have some fun while on the job and who knows, maybe the kid was giving her a hard time so she needed to let lose, or perhaps her friends were out and about and she was feeling a little lonely. Whatever the case was, she should have saved it for another time at another place not while babysitting at someone else’s house.
Probably the worst time to call a babysitter is after a night out, especially if they’re so young. The babysitter was called in to watch after two kids, a one-year-old and two-year-old, after coming from a night out with his friends. Eventually, he passed out drunk on the couch but that’s not all. The kids then were left alone and let themselves go outside and started playing out in the streets. Thankfully, a neighbor saw them and grabbed them quickly, returning them to the house. The parents then came home to find the babysitter drunk on the couch, knocked out and soon found out about their kids little outing. He wasn’t called back again but at the same time, it wasn’t the best decision to call him in when he was out and about. There’s no excuse but the parents should have thought about this more thoroughly.
Some of these babysitters don’t realize that this is not the time to do what they usually do, unless they’re slick enough to get away with it but by the looks of it, it’s better to not even try. This babysitter didn’t carry any common sense with him and was caught smoking something much harsher than cigarettes, on the porch while on the job. The father actually went back home because he forgot something but he found something unpleasant when he arrived. He heard his daughter crying so loud and he didn’t understand what was wrong until he walked onto the porch. He found the babysitter enjoying himself a little too much, and not really concerned about the fact that he was babysitting a kid. The father was very thankful that he came back home early. He had to find a brand new babysitter after that incident.
Some babysitting stories are funny, and some of them are just plain wrong while the rest are too scary to share. In example, this one girl finally spoke about her experience with this babysitter whose children were involved as well. Her time with that babysitter has stayed with her throughout the years but she’s overcome the traumatic experience and is living as a healthy woman today. Her parents would leave her at her good friend’s house. She had kids herself, too, an 11-year-old and an 8-year-old. The girl explained how she remembered the days at their house where she was repeatedly hit by those children in front of the babysitter. One time, Joyce, the babysitter, lost her temper and filled the sink with water then held her head underneath. Apparently, it took the girl a year to speak up but she finally did to her mom. They called the cops, needless to say, and the mother made sure to never have those people around them ever again. She is always encouraging parents to have their kids feel comfortable enough to speak up.
