Not a serious snow-crested mountain ascending type of hammock; no frills or accessories. It is a summer-time leisure trip hammock. But it is perfectly suited for weekend camp-outs, scouting, and one-time adventure trip. Costs $110 less than my Hennessy, but does 80% of what my Hennessy does. The Moskito is a bit small as other reviewers have stated. I am just at 6 feet tall, and I can lay diagonally in comfort, however, the small size would eventually affect my comfort on a long, or nasty weather trip. You will need to add your own tree ropes and rain fly, as it does not come with any. I used the rain fly from an old tent, and purchased some climbing carabiners,

Β and climbing rope. You want high strength for hanging a hammock, because knots reduce rope strength by 50%. Using carabiners to attach the tree ropes to the hammock tie-loops prevents rain water from coming down the ropes and soaking the hammock. Carabiners are not essential, but makes things easier. This hammock is designed to hang either way; upside down, with the bug netting underneath so you are uncovered, or with the bug netting over you. Unfortunately, the extra slack in the bug netting piles up on your face - really annoying. I will have to sew on a tab to tie the bug net back. The net does seal up really well, and it is a very fine mesh. Material quality, and build quality are very good. Far better than I expected. If you are looking for a weekend hammock, or just want to try out hammock camping, buy this one to start out. It is built well enough for you to get a taste of the more expensive hammocks without breaking your wallet.

I use this hammock instead of a tent when backpacking. It's great for camping near lakes where there are trees and mosquitoes. Being able to set up in <5 min is a big plus when you are being attacked by bugs. I am so gleeful when I'm lying in my hammock and the cloud of mosquitoes outside can't figure out how to get in. Note: you still need a sleeping pad for in the hammock. It is more comfortable to sleep on and nothing will bite you through the bottom of the hammock. If I can't find thick enough trees, I have just laid the hammock on the ground and strung up the mosquito netting portion. That worked out fine! I have some rope extenders so that I can still string it up if trees are very far apart or thick. So far I have noticed that it's better if you have thicker trees and can have the hammock a bit loose. That way you don't have the sides pulling in too much. For ~40 bucks you really can't go wrong with this.

I'm 6'2" and 225, and this hammock is too short for me to use with the net. My head is in the net on the right, and my feet are in the net on the left. My wife, at 5'9" fits perfectly, but the bug net hangs in her face. Flip it over, net side down, and I am snoring in minutes. Let me tell you, I always wanted to hammock in the yard; my wife even bought me one of those East coast rope hammocks to hang up, but I never really used it because it was such a pain to hang and take down (and it's not that comfortable, either). With this hammock, a pair of slap straps, and a pair of carabiners, I can be swinging in the yard in under 5 minutes, and the whole kit fits comfortably inside a ball cap. I have another setup for camping that fits me better when I need a net, but for 25 or 30 dollars, this is the one that goes up in the yard and I don't have to worry about the neighborhood kids load testing it.

I think this is a pretty great hammock. This is my second. My first I slept on for most of a winter (had a -40 deg. sleeping bag) it was hauled away later by a bear... I slept on my new one last night. Byer makes a new version of this hammock that has gathered material at the suspension ropes rather than line cascades. I haven't tried the new version yet but I think it is probably even more comfortable than the original. If you want to use in conditions less than maybe 60 degrees or with wind chill you may need a 0degree bag, 2 bags, or a foam/air pad. Most foam camp pads would probably work great. It's pretty necessary to insulate your backside in cold or windy conditions. In Spirit as much as possible for the best as I'm concerned.

I have to say, they did a great job on this. I have a friend, and he let me use his Hennessy Hammock, and they cost between 150 to 350. I really didn't want to spend THAT much money on a hammock, so I got this one. It is just as good! Plus, do NOT buy a rainfly for this, you can EASILY make one. All you do is run some rope from one tree to the other about two feet above the hammock. Put a 10x8 tarp and lay it length wise on the rope. after this, get four pieces of rope and four stakes, then tie the pieces of rope to the corners. After this, you tie the rope to the stakes and stake it down. The finall part is to go out in the woods and find two sticks, put them in the middle so the tarp is a good distance from your hammock. You may have to whittle the ends and stick it in the holes on the tarp on each side. Hope this helped!

Very handy little hammock. I used it extensively on a trip through Central America and then again on a trip across America. It goes up easy, stretches to a comfortable length, folds into a small, lightweight pouch and I never once had a problem with insects. I probably slept in it 20 to 25 times, and was impressed with the comfortability of the hammock when stretched diagnol. At some point, the seam on the mosquito net tore a little bit, and I had to sew it back up to keep it from damaging the hammock further, but after the abuse I put it through, it was only a minor setback. Overall, the quality of the hammock is very high. Pro tip though: If you find yourself sleeping in relatively cool conditions, you better make sure you have something to keep you warm. Unless you are in a tropical environment, even the slightest chill on the air will require a couple of extra layers to keep you warm. I spent a fall night in Yosemite in this thing and nearly got hypothermia.

The Moskito offers a cocoon of comfortable space with insect protection. The fine mesh net is supported by shock cord. The attached storage bag doubles as a handy utility pouch for a flashlight, keys, etc. If the protective net is not needed, simply turn the hammock over and enjoy the Moskito as a regular Traveller Hammock.
