Privacy Policy for Auto Scroll

Last Updated: October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the "Auto Scroll" browser extension handles user information.

1. No Data Collection or Transmission

Auto Scroll does NOT collect, harvest, store, sell, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, keystrokes, personal communications, or IP addresses to any external servers, developers, or third parties.

2. Local Storage Usage

The extension uses the browser's local storage API (chrome.storage.local) strictly on your local device to save:

- User-created reading bookmarks (exact text fragments, scroll positions, and reading completion percentages).

- User preferences (auto-scroll speeds and interface settings).

All data remains exclusively inside your browser on your computer and is never synced to external cloud services or shared. You can delete this data at any time by clearing your bookmarks or uninstalling the extension.

3. Permissions Usage

- Host Permissions (<all_urls>) & activeTab: Required solely to measure scroll position, highlight saved reading paragraphs, and execute smooth automated scrolling on webpages you choose to read.

- scripting: Used to run the scrolling and bookmarking helper in active tabs without requiring a manual page refresh.

- contextMenus: Used to provide right-click shortcuts for hands-free reading and spot selection.

- offscreen: Used strictly to play local audio feedback cues (soft chimes) upon action completion.

4. Third-Party Services & Tracking

Auto Scroll does not include any third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, advertising networks, or remote telemetry scripts.

5. Contact
