Effective Date: July 25, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Authenticator (the “App”) by David John Hare (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you download and use the App from Apple’s App Store (“App Store”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

- None. The Authenticator app does not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal information such as name, email address, phone number, or payment details.
1.2 Automatically Collected Data
- Analytics & Crash Reports: We do not integrate any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. No usage data, diagnostics, or device identifiers are collected or transmitted.
1.3 On-Device Data Storage
- Secret Keys & Tokens: All one-time password (OTP) secrets and configuration you add remain encrypted and stored locally on your device. We do not transmit these secrets to any server.
2. How We Use Information
Since we do not collect or transmit personal data or analytics, your information remains on your device. We use on-device data solely to generate time-based or counter-based OTP codes for you.
3. Sharing & Disclosure
- No Sharing: We do not share, sell, or trade any user data with third parties.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information only if required by law or valid legal process (e.g., court order, subpoena), or to protect our rights, property, or users’ safety.
Refund-Related Data Sharing
We may share limited anonymized information with Apple when a user requests a refund for an in-app purchase. This includes (but is not limited to) time since installation, usage duration, an anonymous account identifier, purchase consumption details, and transaction amounts, solely for the purpose of processing and verifying refund requests. No personally identifiable information is shared.
4. Data Security
- Encryption: All OTP secrets are stored encrypted in your device’s secure storage (e.g., iOS Keychain).
- Local-Only: No network communication is used for secret storage or OTP generation.
- Best Practices: We follow industry best practices to safeguard on-device data against unauthorized access.
5. Your Rights
- Device Control: You control your secrets: you can export, import, or delete them at any time within the App.
- Uninstall: To remove all data, simply uninstall the App from your device. All stored secrets will be deleted.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.
