Auspicious reception held in Cambodia to mark Russia Day

On 11 June, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Cambodia hosted the State Reception on the occasion of Russia Day (12 June) in the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra Hotel.

The event was graciously attended by Samdech Rathsaphea Thika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom, and H.E. Mr. Ouch Borith, Second Vice President of the Senate of Cambodia.

The high representatives of the Royal House, both houses of parliament, Royal Government, ministries and state institutions, command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Capital City Administration, as well as foreign diplomatic missions, business and academic circles, members of the Association of Former Cambodian Students from Russia and Soviet Union, local media and compatriots living in Phnom Penh took part in the reception.

H.E. Mr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, First Vice President of Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority joined the event as the Guest of Honour, representing the Royal Government.

In his welcoming address, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission H.E. Mr Anatoly Borovik, noted the significance of the national holiday as a symbol of unity of Russian citizens, their devotion to traditions and moral guidelines, emphasized its bond with the start of pivotal democratic and economic transformations in Russia’s history. The Ambassador spoke about our country’s contribution to the liberation of the peoples of Europe from the Nazi regimes during the Second World War, and reaffirmed its commitment to countering the neocolonialist practices against the World Majority. Highlighting the long-standing friendly ties between Russia and Cambodia, and the steadfast advancement of the Russian-ASEAN Dialogue, he expressed confidence in the further expansion of practical cooperation and mutually beneficial relations for the benefit of the peoples of both states.

The guests enjoyed the virtual photo exhibition, showcasing Russia’s beauty and achievements.
