Civic Holiday: This popular August long weekend holiday is known by various names including Terry Fox Day in Manitoba, British Columbia Day, Saskatchewan Day, New Brunswick Day, and Heritage Day in Alberta. Remembrance Day is covered under the Remembrance Day Act. Employers may also offer their workers a paid vacation on Remembrance Day (November 11th), however, this is not a statutory paid holiday under the Labour Standards Code. An employee who works on Remembrance Day and who has been entitled to receive wages for 15 of the 30 calendar days prior to Remembrance Day may be entitled to receive another day off with pay.
