This core single malt from the ace distillery in the Highlands is finished for six-to-nine months in Oloroso sherry casks before being bottled. Warming, light and smooth. It's matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted casks. Perfect for those who perhaps find the classic Talisker flavour profile a bit too much, not to say that Talisker fans won't enjoy it too. This was distilled in and bottled in after a finishing period in Amoroso casks. Amber-red colour. Pungent, slightly smoky aroma. Full body. Smoky with distinctive peppery character. The taste explodes on the palate and has a huge, long finish. Hints of cherry and honey, spices and earthy peat. A hint of blue cheese leads your palate to cinnamon and the typical Springbank smoke that is very different from any other whisky smoke. Tropical fruit and faint hints of fairy floss come to the fore with the extended exposure to air. A classic from the Speyburn distillery. The nose offers hints of butterscotch, bananas and custard. Rich, sweet and malty on the palate, with subtle spice and chocolate orange developing in the long, creamy finish. An elegant and sophisticated offering. This was originally launched for the duty free market, and it is a tour de force from the Islay distillery. First off, they mature this in bourbon barrels, before transfer into quarter casks, and a third maturation in Oloroso sherry European oak butts. Astonishing with oodles of peat smoke and sweetness. Nuances of sweet vanilla, coconut, banana, apple, kiwi and fresh butter. Long, smoky-spicy finish with hints of salty seaweed. In making Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on Islay, along with the seaweed give Laphroaig its particularly rich flavour. Suprising sweetness with hints of salt and layers of peatiness. This 15 Year Old matured in sherry wood, a superb malt which earned 95 points from Jim Murray. A lot of the whisky in this is clearly much older than 15 years, this is a really sherried dram and we love it. A round, slightly limp entry leads to a smooth medium-bodied palate with sweet toffee, roasted nuts, and elegant spice flavours. Finishes with a long, rich spicy toffee fade with a wave of heather and pepper. This one is a dark horse. Good core of peaty malt at the heart of this one — a handsome value-for-money dram. It's a true classic from Islay, and a must have for any fan of single malt whisky. Complex, fresh apples, orange marmelade and peaches. The finish is long with cocoa powder, ground coffee beans and gentle wood spices. Matured in a mixed of sherry and bourbon casks, lending fruity sweetness to the whisky. A rather tasty release presented by Glendalough, rich in vanilla, caramel, Christmas spices and dried fruit notes. The taste offers a sweet start with a gunpowder explosion of deep earthy peat on the tongue, lifting to a fresh cut grass spiciness. Smoky peatiness balanced by heather floralness with hints of honey, oak, sweet grass, chocolate and vanilla. Nose: Well-smoked and peated, heather freshness and floral notes with a honeyed sweetness and a little wood.
