Aubrey Plaza Launches New Production Company, Announces Dark Comedy Series

Los Angeles, CA – May 18, 2025

Aubrey Plaza, the beloved star of Parks and Recreation and The White Lotus, is stepping into a powerful new role behind the camera. The actress, known for her deadpan humor and offbeat charm, has officially launched her own production company, Plaza Pictures, with a slate of bold, unconventional projects already in development.

The first major announcement? A dark comedy series titled Bad Influence, which Plaza will co-write, executive produce, and star in. Described as a 'twisted exploration of mentorship gone wrong,' the show follows a disillusioned life coach (Plaza) who accidentally inspires her clients to embrace their worst impulses—with chaotic results.

'I’ve always been drawn to stories that are weird, uncomfortable, and a little dangerous,' Plaza said in a statement. 'With Plaza Pictures, I want to create a space for projects that push boundaries and make people laugh while they’re squirming in their seats.'

Industry insiders are buzzing about the venture, especially with Plaza’s longtime collaborator and Legion director Megan Park attached to helm the series. The project has already sparked a bidding war among streaming platforms, with Netflix and HBO Max reportedly leading the charge.

In addition to Bad Influence, Plaza Pictures is developing an anthology horror film and a documentary about the underground punk scene in 1980s Philadelphia—a nod to Plaza’s roots.
