Aubrey O’Day’s name might not appear in many tabloid headlines these days.
But the former Danity Kane singer is currently at the center of an intense controversy that’s sparked debate over a wide array of subjects ranging from body-shaming to celebrities’ right to privacy.
If you’re one of O’Day’s nearly 1 million Instagram users, then you’re probably accustomed to seeing the 36-year-old as she’s pictured above.
But according to a new report from the Daily Mail, Aubrey is presenting her fans with a carefully constructed facade so that she can continue signing lucrative sponsored content deals with companies that manufacture diet supplements.
The Mail has published photos along with a headline reading, "Aubrey O’Day Looks Unrecognizable as She Emerges for a Stroll With Her Dogs After Promoting Diet App With Filtered Snap on Instagram."
You can see the photos published by the newspaper in the video above.
The report quickly gained traction on social media, prompting O’Day to lash out at what she claims are fraudulent photos.
And she did so with photographic evidence that the Mail is deceiving its readers.
Aubrey posted the photo above in which she’s seen holding a sign with the date that it was taken.
The sign also features the words, "This is degrading."
"It’s so sick what ppl will do for click bait!" O’Day captioned the photo on Instagram.
"And that my lawyer needed this photo to defend me against it.. When is this industry going to stop abusing women’s bodies!" she added.
"Sorry my place is a mess, currently remodeling my glam room – I’m sure it’ll be written that I’m a hoarder next!"
The Mail has yet to respond to O’Day’s allegations, and it will be interesting to see how/if the publication does.
Instances of body-shaming from the celebrity tabloid media are sadly common, but this case is unusual.
Aubrey is claiming that the photo is either not her, or not an accurate representation of her appearance.
She seems to be alleging that the woman in the pics is not her … or that the Mail manipulated the images in order to make her appear that she had gained weight.
Either way, the Mail will have quite the lawsuit on its hands if she’s able to prove her case.
O’Day is best known for her work with Danity Kane, the girl group that was founded as part of MTV’s Making the Band series.
In recent years, she’s remained in the public eye due to her popularity as an Instagram model, and her much-publicized relationship with Donald Trump Jr.
We’ll bring you further updates on this ongoing story as more information becomes available.
UPDATE: A source close to the situation has confirmed to the New York Post that the photos of O’Day published in the Daily Mail are authentic and unaltered.
“They were only cropped,” the insider said.
“They weren’t even color-corrected at all.”
The source adds that the two dogs in the photo are O’Day’s pets.
The informant says the photo was taken as Aubrey was leaving Cheeky’s restaurant in Palm Springs, which is known to be one of her favorite establishments.
She also points out that the tattoos on the woman in the photo match up with O’Day’s.
Seemingly by way of explaining O’Day’s appearance, the source added:
“She hasn’t done well throughout the pandemic.”
As for the response photo posted by Aubrey on Instagram, photo experts for the Post claim it shows signs of having been altered.
Aubrey’s legal team responded to today’s revelations with the following statement:
"The person in the paparazzi photos is not the same person in the picture that Aubrey shared on Instagram, in that the photo has been altered in an unflattering manner. It’s clear to see that there are noticeable differences between the two photos.”
“Aubrey has shared an unedited photo to put this issue to bed quickly.
"While it appears that body shaming has become the norm (e.g., comments were made earlier this year about Jason Momoa and are frequently made about female celebrities), Aubrey will not tolerate it, nor will she allow others to manipulate her image, and finds it sad that this is a newsworthy topic given the current climate of the world.”

Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day Has Seriously Transformed Over Time — See Photos of Her Then and Now

It’s no surprise Aubrey O’Day has changed a lot over the years. She was only 21 when she first hit the scene back in 2005 as a member of Diddy ‘s girl group, Danity Kane , but now she’s making headlines for her looks.
She’s denied undergoing plastic surgery in the past, but the “Strawberry Milk” singer did open up about noninvasive procedures she’s had. “I’ve had lip fillers and Botox. I put a lot of filters,” Aubrey told Us Weekly in 2019. “I know all the tricks and I use them.” Some of those “tricks” include photo editing apps, she added at the time.
Speculation and shady comments don’t bother the Ex on the Beach star “at all” these days. “When I was 17 maybe,” she explained about mean comments over her looks on social media . “I think the worst comment I ever read, and then I didn’t read anymore, was, ‘She looks like an old leather handbag that’s been put in the dryer 15 times.’ That was one of my faves.”
She doesn’t let “silly” comments get her down. “I look in the mirror. I know what I look like. I love me! I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” she noted.
In 2011, Aubrey alluded to the idea that she hasn’t had any work done. “My makeup — how much or how little I have on — is constantly affecting the way people see me in regards to everybody thinking I’ve had plastic surgery,” she told Celebuzz at the time.
The Marriage Boot Camp star did admit to looking pretty different from how she used to, though. “Sometimes I’ll look at pictures and think that maybe I don’t look like myself there,” she continued. “My eyes [do] look different or my lips look really big … It could’ve been a lip plumper, or a bad makeup artist, too much makeup, too little makeup; whatever it may be.”
Aubrey has also talked about her struggle with body image since stepping into the public eye as a teen. “Everybody at some point and to some degree wants to be appreciated and accepted by others,” she explained. “It’s an ongoing process. I don’t think that there’s ever a quick fix to completely loving yourself in any phase.”

Just one glance at this picture shows you that Aubrey looks hardly at all like the star we met over a decade ago. Let’s break it down.
It’s a subtle difference, but over the years, Aubrey’s nose seems to have gotten thinner. The difference at the bridge of her nose could be a trick of the light or careful contouring, but check out her nostrils. On the left, they flare out a little, whereas on the right, they’re much closer to the line of her nose.
Aubrey’s signature look these days gives her lips a little extra oomph.
Her full pout is definitely one of her favorite features. In October 2019, she debuted a new look on her Instagram Story where her lips looked even larger.
These days, Aubrey loves to show off her cleavage in tight tops, sports bras and low-cut dresses.
Aubrey claimed at a concert in 2015 that “[her] ass is real,” but check out these pictures. That’s *a lot* of squats.
Then again, the size of Aubrey’s butt seems to fluctuate even over just a few months. From December 2015 to January 2016 to June 2016, it seemed to shrink and grow — so maybe this is less a matter of plastic surgery and more a matter of padding and Tyra Banks ‘ famous booty tooch .
When you check out the difference in Aubrey’s silhouette, it’s hard to imagine there’s not something more going on with that booty after all. Her breasts are obviously bigger, but her hips also seem wider and her waist narrower. She’s always been thin, but we wouldn’t be shocked if this girl’s been wearing her waist trainer around the house 24/7.
Styles and makeup trends have changed a lot over the years — but it’s clear that Aubrey’s body changed right along with them.
