Atari doubles down on retro, buys beloved Atari homebrew maker "Atari is now taking its retro-related IP seriously," says AtariAge founder.
Founder Albert Yarusso has announced that AtariAge, a storefront and community hub, will be sold to Atari themselves. Albert will remain as an employee of Atari to continue running the site and store.
Atari has gone and purchased the website AtariAge for an undisclosed fee. Under its new parent company, the site will continue to operate as both a news hub for the company (and retro game scene), and an archive that contains detailed information on Atari hardware and software.
About AtariAge AtariAge is dedicated to bringing you the latest Atari news, providing support for the Atari community, and maintaining an extensive historical archive. This is a huge part of what makes AtariAge AtariAge, as this community has been fostered over the past few decades and is very important to a number of people. The thing is, this community has historically been pretty unwelcoming to any new iterations of Atari.
