Formed in 2009 as the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association, GALECA updated its name in 2017 to better reflect our group's inclusivity. The vast majority of our members count themselves as part of the LGBTQ+ community, though we do include demonstrably committed ally journalists in our ranks on occasion.
GALECA is an association of professional journalists and critics who regularly report on movies, TV and/or New York City stage productions for print, online, and broadcast outlets mainly in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The group was founded in 2009 as the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association.
