Hey Taylor! Lately your videos have become my ASMR favorites, I hope you will continue for a long time. Keep up the good work.
I'd like to ask you, how do you explain what you do to other people? What are the reactions you get to it? I mean, in real life. I imagine it must get interesting.
"Oh really? That's so cool! What kind of videos do you do?"
"When you were little did you ever get a static like, tingly feeling on your back from someone playing with your hair or scratching your back?"
"No, not exactly like goosebumps, but sorta similar. It's just a very relaxing, pleasant feeling. It's a very euphoric feeling."
"Well, it sounds kinda weird, but I make videos to help trigger that feeling. It helps people relax and fall asleep. I help many people who have insomnia, anxiety, stress, PTSD, depression, etc."
"Ohhhh, okay. What do you do in your videos?"
I usually never know what to say at this part. :P
Hi Taylor aka u/ASMRDarling ! So I read most of your answers but I'm sorry if I missed any, feel free to ignore any question you already answered.
After PewDiePie's video, you thought about quitting YouTube. Why? What were the pros and cons of continuing this journey with us?
How did you handle people in your real life leaking private stuff (mostly pictures) online? I guess the success and popularity did test a lot of your friendships.
Do you intend to continue your long journey with YouTube even if you might upload way less because of your professional career? Also, if you had to choose between your professional career and your YouTube channel, what would you do? We know that some YouTubers don't show their face in their videos for privacy purpose but it's a little bit too late in your case obviously.
I think we can't totally ignore the intellectual shortcut that some people take when comparing ASMR and sex. Both have good effects hormonally speaking (as does relaxation in general) and both have effects kinda hard to put into words. Doctors and scientists are starting to study ASMR, which is definitely a good thing. What is your opinion on the matter, do you think ASMR and sex are related on a physical level?
How does it feel to be a celebrity and have millions of people watching you at different times all over the world?

-I thought about quitting for multiple reasons. Pewd's fans commenting and messaging stupid or inappropriate things didn't help. Another reason was because everyone I knew gave me a somewhat hard time for it. Not my family, but some friends. It was as if there an elephant in the room. They didn't straight up make up fun of me. Just little joking comments would get to me sometimes. They would whisper at me sometimes, joking around of course. It's not that I couldn't take a joke.. It was just something that kinda stuck to me, especially after being exposed to everyone I knew. I am so glad I stuck through everything though. Pros of staying around is of course, the huge following I gained! I'm so glad I get to help many different kinds of people through my ASMR :) Cons is I never know who my real friends are.. Or if someone just wants to hang out because I have a big following online.
-Most pictures that leaked were because they were taken from my personal Facebook and personal twitter(I didn't put them on private, because I never knew I was going to gain a huge following). I know that some pictures were leaked off of my personal instagram(which has always been private), which caused me to delete and block A LOT of people I went to school with. I even quit ALL personal social media because of it. I still don't know who leaked pictures, but thanks to them, my personal social media life is no more.
-I would still love to do Youtube even if I do start a serious career in acting. It just depends on how much time I'd have. I think that I'll always wonder back to Youtube no matter what. When I was younger, I always wanted to 'be on youtube' Lol. But I also always dreamed of making it on the big screen. IF I had to choose, I would choose a professional acting career over Youtube. But hey, who knows? My mind might change one day.
-I don't think ASMR and sex are related at all. The relaxing, euphoric feelings may be similar. People often relate sex and ASMR together because of the intimacy involved in ASMR videos... the whispering, getting close to the camera. Unfortunately, ASMR will always have that stigma of sexuality. ASMR itself is not sexual. The women and men who make suggestive, inappropriate ASMR videos are the only sexual thing about it.
-I wouldn't consider myself a 'celebrity' but it does feel nice to know that others know who I am and what I'm all about :)

No, he never approached me about it! I tried contacting him to thank him, but I'm sure my message got lost in all the messages he gets. I was so not prepared for the exposure. I almost wanted to quit Youtube at one point (not blaming Pewds for anything, I was just so overwhelmed by his fans and there were other things happening at the time), but I stuck through it and I'm glad I did!
Thanks for doing this Taylor! How does it feel knowing your channel could easily be the largest ASMR channel? Especially given how rapidly your channel has grown.
Also, what's your favourite video that you've made and least favourite (you don't have to answer that one if you don't want to).
It's still kinda weird to me! lol Less than a couple years ago I was laying in bed watching ASMR videos, not ever thinking about anything that happens behind the camera. I didn't ever picture this life, at all!

Yes, Youtube has affected my life (personal and public) tremendously. Yes, I have been recognized a few times (Only one of the three times was very awkward) Favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate, if it's on a cone IT HAS TO BE VANILLA.

Hey Taylor! Long time listener, first time caller. How do you pick which items to use in a video? Do you just wander around and randomly tap or rub things to see what they sound like?
The thing is, I do that sometimes! If I ever feel I need an extra object for a tapping video, I'll just look around and find the weirdest sounding thing in sight. Usually if I plan a tapping video, I'll go to the store and tap and scratch different things to hear the sounds. I've only done it a couple times and I was nonchalant about it so people wouldn't know what I was doing. Lol.

It looks like you aren't allowed to do that.
