Chinois blonds ou aux yeux clairs issus du village de Liqian (Xinjiang - 2011).
Depuis des siècles, d'aucuns s'étonnent de croiser de temps à autre des Chinois aux caractéristiques physiques se rapprochant beaucoup des européens. Et pourtant, il existe bel et bien des Chinois aux cheveux et aux yeux clairs dans le nord de la Chine et leur ancrage dans cette région ne date pas d'hier. Mais comment expliquer cette particularité physique ?
Pendant longtemps, une légende a persisté selon laquelle ils étaient les descendants de légionnaires romains perdus dans cette partie septentrionale. Mais des études généalogiques et des découvertes récentes autorisent aujourd'hui d'autres théories plus plausibles.
Ces " Chinois blonds " du nord-ouest ont longtemps cru qu'ils étaient les descendants d'une légion romaine qui s'était installée dans la région aux alentours de 53 avant J.-C. Il s'agirait probablement de la légion de général Marcus Crassus qui fut capturé et décapité par les Parthes. Personne ne sait ce qu'il advint du reste de ses troupes et aucun fait ni aucun récit n'est parvenu à notre époque, témoignant de cette défaite ni des conséquences qui s'en suivirent.
Or, les recherches génétiques effectuées sur cette population ont démontré que 2/3 d'entre eux ressemblaient plus à des Européens du nord (type caucasien) qu'à des Européens du sud comme les Italiens ou les Romains. Les troupes de Crassus étaient encore majoritairement composées d'Italiens et de Romains en 53 avant J.-C. La professionnalisation de la légion ne sera de rigueur que vers 400 après J.-C. avec des armées composées d'Allemands et de barbares venus des pays scandinaves. Il n'est donc tout simplement pas possible, selon les experts, que les Romains et les Italiens, perdus dans la région il y a plusieurs millénaires, soient les ancêtres de ces "Chinois blonds".
La population eurasienne de cette région du nord de la Chine aujourd'hui connue comme le "Xinjiang" est composée d'une grande majorité de Chinois, d'Ouighours ainsi que d'une multitude de minorités ethniques comme les Kazakhs, les Kirghizes, les Tatars, les Ouzbeks ou les Tadjiks.
On trouve un groupe ethnique dans le nord de cette région qui a la particularité d'avoir les cheveux blonds ou même les yeux clairs. D'un point de vue physique, ils ressemblent aux Ouighours qui sont localisés plus à l'est et pourtant, une théorie veut que les "Chinois blonds" du nord ne soient pas assimilés aux Ouighours de l'est. Malgré le fait qu'ils aient des origines indo-européennes, ils ne sont pas issus de la même branche. Les recherches ont en effet permis de démontrer que les deux peuples sont, en effet apparus à deux périodes différentes de l'Histoire et se sont installés dans deux régions différentes.
Le peuple des Ouighours est issu d'une partie du peuple indo-européen qui s'est mélangé avec les Turcs de Mongolie entre 500 et 1000 ans avant J.-C ; Ils parlent le turc et sont musulmans. Tandis que les "Chinois blonds" du nord-ouest sont issus quant à eux de peuples indo-européens nomades qui se sont déplacés jusque dans les steppes du nord de la Chine actuelle, pour se mélanger aux peuples autochtones. Jadis, ils parlaient des dizaines de dialectes indo-européens qui ont progressivement disparus.
Certains experts pensent que ces individus sont tout simplement le résultat d'une migration massive et durable de peuples eurasiens vers l'Extrême Orient.
Grâce à la domestication du cheval, de nombreux peuples de l'Eurasie ont entamé leur expansion vers l'Extrême-Orient et ont apporté avec eux l'agriculture. Ils se sont mélangés aux tribus autochtones de la Taïga et des montagnes qui étaient essentiellement des chasseurs-cueilleurs.
Entre l'an 1000 avant J.-C. et l'an 1000 après J.-C., le peuple Han a commencé à migrer d'est en ouest. On peut retrouver des traces écrites de tribus chinoises mobiles comme les « Yuezhi » et les « Wusun » dans des archives historiques. Leur prédominance politique leur a permit d'imposer leur langue aux populations environnantes si bien que les dialectes indo-européens ont disparu progressivement.
Les peuples indo-européens se sont multipliés plus vite, si bien qu'ils ont fini par absorber les autres tribus. Mais ces peuples ont surtout bénéficié d'échanges intéressants avec l'Eurasie, dû à la proximité des frontières du nord. Le cas du village de Liqian est très typique de ce métissage qui s'est déroulée sur une très longue période.
Ce métissage explique donc la prédominance de certaines caractéristiques physiques inhabituelles en Chine à savoir les cheveux blonds, les yeux verts ou bleus et la peau claire.
