Asians Account For 12% Of Las Vegas Visitors

The proportion of tourists visiting Las Vegas in an official poll who identified themselves as Asian or Asian Americans rose from 2% in 2009 to 12% in 2013.

This follows a Las Vegas Visitor Profile Study 2013 published this week by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

However, the number of all visitors who said they had gambled during the trip dropped to 71 percent, compared to 83 percent in 2009. Expenditures by various ethnic groups for games or non-games were not recorded in the survey.

The study involved face-to-face interviews with 3,600 visitors randomly selected by authorities.

Commentaries on the annual visitor survey conducted by the Macau Tourism Institute (IFT) show anecdotal evidence that Chinese tend to underestimate both gambling activities and spending. The same cultural taboo may not apply to Western tourists in Macau or Las Vegas.

But the apparent trend in Las Vegas gambling identified by LVCVA doesn't have to be bad news for casino operators, for example, if gamblers are more focused.

The University of Nevada's Las Vegas Game Research Center said in 2013 that Baccarat, thought to be related to gambling by Asian players, accounted for 46.8% of all table game revenues in Clark County, including the Las Vegas Strip. In 1985, baccarat was only 13.6 % of all table game revenue in Clark County.

According to other UNLV data, Bakara's "win" (money held by casinos after the prize money was paid) nearly tripled across the state between 2000 and 2013, reaching nearly $1.6 billion in 2013. Victory in all table games across Nevada increased only 27% over the same period. 카지노사이트

There's another reason to cheer among Las Vegas operators. Popular non-game activities at Las Vegas casino resorts, including shopping for clothes at casino malls, tend to have gross margins similar to gambling products.

According to financial information firm CSIMarket.com , the U.S. clothing retail market's gross margin averaged 34.93 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013. According to a 2009 University of Oregon study, Las Vegas Sands claimed a group-wide gross margin of 33.3 % in casino revenue.
