Use gatsby clay. It built for asian hair,hold really well, and it's not gel. Hair style depend on wht u want. If u want short to medium, get a comb over with a fresh lineup design. U can go undercut but it depend on your hairline. Edit: i prefer the gatsby technical clay grey. The blue is just literally gel. The green is fine but it doesnt hold strong compare grey.

Gatsby is better than your dollar store hairgel for sure, but if you really want to step up your game: Go to a proper (asian) hairdresser, it will make a big difference. Condition your hair and learn to use the blowdryer properly. There were some good comments here already.

Best products for Asian hair besides Gatsby? Well I already know of Gatsby's products; I use Spiky Edge everyday to style my hair. But lately I've been feeling like experimenting more with different products so I was wanting to get my hands on some pomade and/or hairspray just to see if I can achieve any sorts of different looks.
Another good product for Asian hair is Hanz de Fuko. You kind of have to test them out, but for long hair with a dropped look, don't get their quicksand or claymation since those are harder holds. Now I use Axe hair products. Definitely don't use their body sprays anymore since 2003, but their hair pomades, waxes, etc.
