We were so pleasantly surprised by this place! We were in the mood for "Asian food... but HEALTHY Asian, not greasy Asian." When we walked in, I exclaimed "wow!" out loud! It was much nicer than I expected. The lighting was charming, warm, and intimate, but it wasn't sun and dingy, because there were huge windows letting in lots of daylight. The FOOD was even better! They can make just about anything on the menu gluten free. I got the fried rice, and it was satiating, but it didn't feel heavy and deep fried in the mouth. Light and savory and perfectly filling. The vegetables were perfectly sautéed, not tough or rubbery or burnt or soft or anything! We are TOTALLY coming here again.
Good, but uneven. Love the curries but the soups are weak. Noodles are good but would be better if they were better separated during cooking so the sauces can be absorbed. All told, still one of the best places to eat in Burlington, just know there will be some real hidden gems on the menu but also a few clunkers.
I used to like this restaurant but the service started to slow since two years ago. I was still OK with that because they're always busy. However, I took my family here last week; My kids ordered pad thai, pad sew ew, yakisoba, and my husband ordered pad thai. All of them could not the food because TOO SWEET. Opposite of my food, was too salty (French fries and chicken satay) I dont think I will go back to this restaurant for a long time.
This is my second dining experience at the Asian 1 in Burlington. I forgot to write a review my first time, so I decided to visit again and rectify my "grievous error" On my first visit I had my favorite Thai dish, which also happens to be this locations most popular, Pineapple Fried Rice. I always order chicken as my protein element. The Pineapple Fried Rice was very tasty. I was definitely NOT disappointed This time I decided to try something different and went with one of my favorite Japanese dishes, Yakisoba. I spent 18 months in Japan and ate a lot of Yakisoba. Asian 1 prepares this dish a bit different from what I remember from my time in Japan. The restaurants in Japan typically prepare their yakisoba in a wok and that imparts a frying element to the dish. Also there is teriyaki in the Japanese version. I have no idea how Asian 1 prepares their yakisoba, but I did not detect any teriyaki and I didn't get a fried taste. Having said that, I still liked Asian 1's version of yakisoba. It was very delicious and they even asked if I wanted it to be spicy. I LOVE spicy foods, so I immediately asked for my teriyaki to be "Thai hot" . I was very happy with the resulting dish and was surprised that it came with my choice of white rice or brown, a leafy salad with peanut sauce dressing, and the Soup du jour (today it was egg drop soup). All of that for just $13.15 (drinks are extra). If you are a fan of Asian cuisine you should definitely check out Asian 1.
This place is so good! It's my favorite spot in Mount Vernon for a quick and delicious lunch. My favorite menu item is definitely the kee mao. The portions are generous especially for the price.
I did a Togo order. I loved the convenience of ordering online. Their online service was very easy to use and straightforward. They have a wide variety of options. I ordered the Thai tea with coconut milk which was amazing and the tofu pad Thai. My boyfriend ordered the honey glazed chicken stir fry. The pad Thai was very good but I didn't realize the tofu would be deep fried which I don't like. The flavor was very good though. The nuts in the honey glazed chicken seemed kind of odd and didn't go together I think and it was more of honey glazed soup then a stir fry. The sauce was definitely my favorite part of it. I'd definitely get this place again and get Pad Thai with a different protein but we won't be getting the honey glazed chicken stir fry again.
Even considering Covid limited menu, I've never spent $70 for two plates of seafood curry that tasted like that. Might as well have gone to the Chinese buffet up the street and spent $30. Both curry dishes had three pieces of seafood, two carrot slices, two pieces of potato. Total bullshit. Every time I e gone to this restaurant I've told myself never again, and this time I know I'll never be back.
Ordered takeout.. the containers were not closed all the way and food spilled in the bag. Was useless to go back to the restaurant since I arrived home. Please close the lids. Also no utensils or napkins.. like why?
Great service, Delicious food. Had the appetizer chicken wraps. Fresh and crunch romaine lettuce. This was about 2 months ago.
I hate giving a bad review but I have to be honest about our experience here. We ordered the cashew chicken stir fry and the Mongolian beef. They are $15 plates each and you have to spend another dollar per dish for the rice which is not included. So $16 plates each is pretty high and we didn't think it was worth it in the end. Unfortunately the beef was pounded out, chewy and dry. It didn't seem like much meat and was not pleasant to eat. The sauce on the cashew chicken was pretty flavorless and disappointing. The positive is that they did use a lot of fresh vegetables which we really appreciated. The dishes could have been really good if the cashew chicken had a better sauce and if the beef was better quality or prepared differently on the Mongolian dish. Bummer
